Job description

JOB SUMMARY
The Sr. Manager, Software Development is responsible for leading software engineering teams in the design, development, delivery, and ongoing support of scalable, secure, and high-quality software solutions. This role partners closely with product, architecture, quality, security, and business stakeholders to align technical execution with organizational priorities and customer needs. The Sr. Manager drives engineering excellence through strong people leadership, sound technical judgment, delivery oversight, and continuous improvement across the software development lifecycle.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead and develop software engineering teams responsible for the design, development, testing, deployment, and support of software applications, services, or platforms.
  • Set team direction, priorities, and delivery expectations in alignment with organizational goals, technical roadmaps, and business needs.
  • Partner with product, architecture, quality assurance, security, and operations stakeholders to plan and deliver scalable, secure, and maintainable software solutions.
  • Oversee engineering execution across the software development lifecycle, including solution design, sprint planning, code reviews, testing, release readiness, and production support.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, performance management, and career development support to engineers and team leads to build a high-performing and engaged team.
  • Drive engineering best practices related to code quality, testing, CI/CD, observability, documentation, and operational excellence.
  • Monitor team capacity, project progress, technical risks, and delivery metrics, and communicate status, trade-offs, and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Support architectural decisions and technical planning by collaborating with senior engineers and architects to ensure solutions are resilient, scalable, and aligned with standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve development processes, team effectiveness, system reliability, and delivery predictability through continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all company policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, information systems, or a related technical field required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in software development, software engineering, or a related technical function.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience leading engineering teams, technical leads, or software delivery efforts.
  • Demonstrated experience managing software delivery across the software development lifecycle in agile or hybrid environments.
  • Strong technical understanding of software architecture, code quality practices, testing, deployment processes, and operational support.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders including product, architecture, quality, and operations teams.
  • Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred:
  • Experience leading teams responsible for cloud-based, enterprise, or customer-facing software systems preferred.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, observability, and modern software delivery tooling preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare, diagnostics, life sciences, or other regulated technology environments preferred.
  • Experience supporting security, privacy, compliance, or audit requirements within software delivery processes preferred.
  • Relevant certifications or experience in agile leadership, cloud platforms, or software engineering management preferred.

  • Periodic travel may be required for planning sessions, team meetings, workshops, or business needs.
