Job description

Senior/ Principal Software Architect โ€“ Storage & File Systems

Denver, CO (Hybrid) | Up to $250,000 base + benefits | Full-time

An established leader in enterprise data storage is hiring a Principal Software Architect to set the technical direction for its distributed storage and file-system software. This is a senior individualโ€‘contributor architecture role for someone who has designed large-scale storage systems and can be the technical authority across teams - shaping architecture, raising the engineering bar, and staying handsโ€‘on where it matters.

What you'll do
  • Own the architecture of distributed, scaleโ€‘out storage and fileโ€‘system software - data path, object and file layers, metadata, and data protection.
  • Set technical direction across multiple engineering teams and drive the hardest crossโ€‘cutting design decisions.
  • Define the approach to performance, scalability, durability and reliability, and hold the system to it.
  • Prototype, review and guide implementation; mentor senior and staff engineers and lift the overall standard of the codebase.
What we're looking for
  • 15+ years of systems software engineering, with a track record of architecting storage or distributed systems at scale.
  • Deep expertise in C/C++ and in file systems, object/block storage, or highโ€‘performance data paths.
  • Mastery of distributedโ€‘systems design: consistency, replication, erasure coding, fault tolerance and scaleโ€‘out.
  • Strong Linux systems and performanceโ€‘engineering background.
  • The judgement and communication to be the technical authority across teams while remaining handsโ€‘on.
Nice to have
  • Experience taking a storage product from architecture through to production at petabyte scale.
  • Familiarity with modern interconnects (NVMe-oF, RDMA) and cloud/hybrid storage models.
What's on offer
  • Base salary up to $250,000, depending on experience.
  • Medical, dental and vision coverage.
  • Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts.
  • Companyโ€‘paid life, AD&D and disability insurance.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer contribution.
  • Employee Assistance Program and wellness benefits.
  • Hybrid working (3 Days) , Denver, CO.
  • ** Must have full working rights in the United States.

This role is live and interviews will be happening imminently, the interview process is 3 stages and average time from Recruiter Screening call (Human, Not AI), to Offer/ Decision is around 2 - 3 weeks.
