About Target
Working at Target means helping all families discover the joy of everyday life. We bring that vision to life through our values and culture. Learn more about Target here.
Target's Global UX team is a group of design, content, research, and accessibility practitioners and experts, with a passion for improving and innovating our digital experiences for Target's guests, team members, and partners. Here, we pride ourselves on designing tangible, inspiring, and impactful solutions that serve all aspects of our business- and being a part of the team means you will play a critical role for Target's digital experience by increasing ease, simplicity, value, and delight for every touchpoint.
About the team
The Emerging Experiences team focuses on future-forward guest experiences that are seamless, inspiring, and full of possibility. We imagine what's next for Target's digital and physical touchpoints-and bring those ideas to life through immersive, high-fidelity storytelling.
This team works across the ecosystem-collaborating with product, engineering, brand, stores, and enterprise strategy-to prototype the future and make it real. We're here to create clarity in complexity. At Target, design isn't just how something works-it's how it feels. It's how we bring joy to everyday life, through moments of clarity, emotion, and care.
About the job
As a Senior UX Designer, you'll help translate guest insights, business opportunities, and system constraints into clear experience direction. You'll collaborate with cross-functional partners to identify pain points, map journeys and services, and align teams around human-centered solutions.
This role blends strong design craft with systems thinking-supporting more senior team members in framing and delivering connected guest experiences that scale across channels.
Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to UX strategy and vision for multi-touchpoint guest experiences
  • Create service design artifacts such as journey maps, blueprints, and storyboards to align teams and identify opportunities
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, marketing, and store operations partners to align on experience outcomes
  • Participate in design sprints and co-creation sessions to explore, prototype, and refine new concepts
  • Deliver design work across phases-from early journey concepts to mid-fidelity flows and wireframes
  • Apply both qualitative and quantitative data to understand guest needs and prioritize opportunities
  • Hold your work to a high standard of craft-considering accessibility, interaction patterns, information architecture, and brand alignment
  • Contribute to a culture of curiosity, experimentation, and guest-first thinking within your immediate team

About you:
  • 4+ years of experience in UX, with a portfolio demonstrating strong design thinking and systems awareness
  • Proficiency in service design methods (e.g., journey mapping, ecosystem modeling, service blueprinting)
  • Experience working within cross-functional teams and navigating complexity
  • Comfortable structuring your work, managing your time, and delivering high-quality design independently
  • Skilled in modern design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma)
  • Able to use guest insights and business data to guide your design decisions
  • Strong communication skills-you explain your work clearly, and collaborate effectively with non-design stakeholders
  • You ask thoughtful questions, lean into ambiguity, and care about designing inclusive, scalable experiences
  • You bring a growth mindset and a desire to learn, evolve, and make things better-for guests, teams, and the business

Portfolio guidance:
Please include a portfolio that showcases:
  • End-to-end design work (ideation through to implementation)
  • Journey or service design artifacts (journey maps, experience models, blueprints)
  • Clear rationale for your decisions and examples of your impact on the experience or business

This position may be considered for a Remote or Hybrid (known internally at Target as "Flex for Your Day") work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at a Target location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member's core role may be performed either remote or onsite at a Target location depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day. Work duties cannot be performed outside of the country of the primary work location, unless otherwise prescribed by Target.
