Validation Test Engineer

Job Title: Validation Test Engineer Location: Wallingford, CT

Reports to: Engineering Manager Created: December 2025

FLSA: Exempt

Description:

The Product Validation Engineer is responsible for planning and conducting a variety of design qualification and product evaluation tests on RF coaxial cables and connectors for use in military and commercial applications. Product evaluations can include mechanical, electrical, or environmental testing in accordance with customer, military or TMS specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute detailed test plans for product validation and qualification test campaigns, and report project status, internally or externally, as requested.
  • Interpret engineering specifications and communicate technical risks, clarification or change recommendations directly with the customer.
  • Compile and organize test data into comprehensive and thorough test reports, in accordance with TMS reporting methods.
  • Analyze product performance data to determine reliability, repeatability, and predicted life expectancy.
  • Work independently and take ownership of programs and/or projects to achieve schedule, financial, and technical goals.
  • Evaluate product performance after simulated aging using HALT and HAST techniques.
  • Design custom fixturing and develop test plans for novel product qualification.
  • Technical expert on RF, mechanical, and environmental testing, including test apparatus and systems.
  • Perform failure mode evaluations on coaxial cables and connectors.
  • Work directly with design engineering, applications engineering, program management and operations, as necessary.
  • Provide technical advice to program managers when qualification test programs are negotiated.
  • Maintain and service on-site test equipment as necessary.
  • Evaluate existing test equipment capability, identify, and justify capital investments when necessary.

Basic Qualifications/Requirements:

  • BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years of engineering experience.
  • Experience with equipment and methods involved in environmental testing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years of engineering experience.
  • Experience using military standards including MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-202, etc.
  • Proficient in Visual Basic and/or Matlab
  • Experience with Non-Destructive Testing.
  • Experience in testing RF components.
