The department is responsible for the design, development, integration, and support to production builds, and lifecycle support of Raytheon products. We have an opportunity for a Senior Principal RF Design Engineer who is seeking to utilize their academic background and professional experience in RF / Microwave system theory and design to help develop the next generation of Raytheon's Radar Receiver, Exciter, and Transmitter products. What You Will Do: * Architecture development, requirements analysis, hardware design, hands-on testing of components, circuit card assemblies, and subsystems.
* Design and development of transmitters, receivers, or exciters.
* Design and optimization of RF circuits - either chains of components (receiver, exciter, etc.) or individual parts (filters, limiters, couplers, etc.).
* Working with interdisciplinary teams - power, digital, mechanical, etc.
* Schematic capture and RF routing.
* Technical support during the transition to production and support to production activities.
* Cost and schedule management plus proposal writing.
* This 1st shift position will be 100% on-site & based in either Tewksbury, MA or Marlborough, MA, with travel between multiple MA sites anticipated. Qualifications You Must Have: * Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years' of prior relevant experience.
* Experience with Microwave/RF system, subsystem and/or component analysis, design and/or test.
* Experience with electromagnetic simulation tools (e.g., HFSS, ADS, CST, and/or Mentor Graphics' Xpedition) and analytical tools (e.g., MATLAB).
* The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. Qualifications We Prefer: * Experience working in design, from concept through production.
* Experience translating system performance and operation specifications into hardware requirements, design, and test specifications.
* Background in designing for manufacturability, producibility, and cost constraints, which includes yield and margin analysis.
* Problem-solving skills with ability to proactively identify alternate solutions to overcome difficult technical challenges.
* Experience in technical writing and oral presentations.
* Technical background in any of the following areas: * Cascade analysis and/or frequency planning
* Filter design and fabrication
* Circuit card assembly and fabrication
* High speed data converter test / characterization
