Job description

Senior Revenue Accountantย 

Location: Sandy, UT (hybrid, 2 days per week in office)ย

As a Senior Revenue Accountant,ย you'llย playย an important roleย in supporting aย well-established, publicly traded SaaS business with a collaborative revenue accounting function.ย You'llย work closely withย crossfunctionalย partners to ensure revenue is accounted for accurately and consistently, while helpingย maintainย the strong processes and controls expected of a mature public company.ย ย 

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex accounting questions, contributing to reliable financial reporting, and continuously improving processes in anย evolving SaaS environment.ย 

How will you make an impact?ย 

Senior Revenue Accountant - Key Responsibilitiesย 

  • Support the revenue accounting processย in accordance withย ASC 606, including participation in contract review, assessment of performance obligations, evaluation of transaction price, and allocation and recognition of revenue for assigned areas.ย 
  • Review customer contracts, amendments, renewals, and modifications, and partner closely withย Sales, Deal Desk, Legal, FP&A, and Order Managementย toย ensureย appropriate revenueย treatment for standard andย nonstandardย terms.ย 
  • Manage monthly and quarterly revenue close activities, ensuring revenue is recorded accurately, completely, and in compliance with US GAAP andย public companyย reporting requirements.ย 
  • Prepare and reviewย revenue relatedย journal entries, including deferred revenue, contract assets, and contract liabilities.ย 
  • Maintain reconciliations forย revenue relatedย balance sheet accounts, investigate variances, and ensureย timelyย resolution of discrepancies.ย 
  • Own the revenue subledger and ensure alignment between operational systems and the general ledger.ย 
  • Supportย SOX 404 controlsย related toย revenue by documenting processes,ย maintainingย supporting evidence, andย participatingย in control walkthroughs and testing.ย 
  • Serve as a primary point of contact forย external auditorsย forย revenue relatedย matters, including preparation of audit schedules, technical accounting support, and responses to audit inquiries.ย 
  • Draft andย maintainย revenue accounting policies, procedures, and technical accounting memos, including documentation for complex revenue arrangements.ย 
  • Partner with FP&A to support revenue forecasting, backlog reporting, and analysis of bookings, billings, and revenue trends.ย 
  • Prepare quarterly and annual revenue disclosures for public filings, including deferred revenueย roll forwardsย and contract balance disclosures.ย 
  • Support system integrations, enhancements, and process improvements related to revenue accounting, including scalability, automation, and internal control effectiveness.ย 
  • Ensure data integrity across revenue systems, billing platforms,ย manual schedules,ย andย cloud ERP systems (e.g., Workday Financials).ย 
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accountants or offshore team members on revenue accounting processes and close responsibilities.ย 
  • Continuouslyย identifyย opportunities to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and control within the revenue accounting function in aย high growthย SaaS environment.ย 

Haveย you got what it takes?ย 

Experienceย 

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience,ย ideally includingย SaaS revenueย experience in a multi-entity, multi-region environment.ย 
  • BA/BS in Accounting or Finance.ย 
  • CPA preferred.ย 
  • Public company or Big 4 background.ย 

Skills and Toolsย 

  • Strong communication, writing, financial analysis, and interpersonal skills.ย 
  • Intermediate Excelย skills.ย 
  • Hands-on experience withย Workday Financialsย (or strong experience with a comparable cloud ERP and clear willingness to ramp on Workday).ย 
  • Comfort working across systems and pulling, reconciling, and analyzing data from multiple sources.ย 
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing priorities.ย 
  • Proven ability to communicate and influence at all levels of an organization.ย
