Job description

LawZero is seeking a curious, intellectually agile, and mission-driven Senior Researcher Communication Specialist - AI to serve as a bridge between our research teams and external audiences.

Working closely with researchers, engineers, and leadership, you will transform complex AI research into clear, engaging, and scientifically accurate content for a variety of stakeholders, including policymakers, funding organizations, partners, media, and the broader public.

This role requires someone comfortable engaging directly with scientists, understanding advanced machine learning concepts, and translating technical breakthroughs into compelling narratives without losing scientific rigor.

Beyond content creation, you will play an important role in supporting research funding initiatives, helping researchers communicate technical requirements and scientific impact in grant applications and strategic communications.

Key Responsibilities

Scientific Communication & Knowledge Translation

  • Collaborate closely with researchers and engineers to understand ongoing projects, technical breakthroughs, and research outcomes.
  • Translate complex AI and machine learning concepts into accessible, engaging content tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Produce a wide range of communication materials, including:

Strategic Content Development

  • Connect LawZero's research activities with broader developments in AI, AI safety, and public policy.

Grant Writing & Research Support

  • Support the preparation of grant proposals and research funding applications.
  • Draft and refine technical sections related to:
    • AI research programs
    • Computing infrastructure
    • GPU requirements and resource planning
    • Research methodologies
    • Expected scientific outcomes
  • Work alongside researchers to streamline proposal development and reduce administrative burden.

Scientific Outreach & Events

  • Assist in preparing conference materials, presentations, posters, and supporting documentation.
  • Contribute to communications supporting partnerships, public engagement initiatives, and scientific outreach activities.
  • Help position LawZero as a leading voice in responsible AI research.

Qualifications

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in technical writing, scientific communication, research communications, or a related field.
  • Experience working within research, academic, scientific, or highly technical environments.
  • Experience supporting grant applications or research funding initiatives is considered a strong asset.

Technical Fluency

  • Strong understanding of artificial intelligence and machine learning concepts.
  • Ability to engage directly with researchers and technical experts on advanced topics without requiring extensive simplification.
  • Familiarity with concepts such as:
    • Large Language Models (LLMs)
    • Deep Learning
    • Model Evaluation
    • AI Safety

A PhD is not required; however, candidates must demonstrate sufficient technical depth to understand and communicate advanced research effectively.
