Job Summary

The Product Data Manager is responsible for ensuring that product data, from design to end of life, is consistent, reliable, secure, and accessible. The role focuses on defining and deploying robust data governance processes to ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance. In addition, the Data Manager is accountable for the quality and consistency of items and product data across internal systems, such as ERP, CRM, PLM, and other critical operational systems.

The Product  Data Manager is the enterprise owner of product data standards and has the authority to define, enforce, and evolve data structures, naming conventions, and data quality rules across all business units.

Key Responsibilities

Product Data Management

  • Ensure the structure, quality, and consistency of product data throughout the product life cycle (items, bills of materials, components, pricing, etc.).
  • Populate and maintain databases according to the needs of stakeholders.
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and completeness across all internal systems (ERP, PLM, CRM, eStore).
  • Act as the reference for product master data topics across Sustaining Engineering and Operations.

Data Governance

  • Define and maintain a robust data governance framework with all stakeholders to ensure data reliability.
  • Ensure data consistency and categorization across internal stakeholders and subsidiaries (INC, SAS, KE2, and future acquisitions).
  • Own and enforce product data standards.

Item Creation & Product Lifecycle Support

  • Work with R&D, Product Management, and Operations to support the creation of new items across systems (ERP, PLM).
  • Maintain and update lifecycle tables and statuses based on product lifecycle stages and operational needs.
  • Ensure lifecycle data supports sustaining activities such as redesign, obsolescence management, and product improvements.

Tools Implementation & Optimization

  • Contribute to the implementation of monitoring and analytics tools to anticipate product maintenance needs and generate projects aligned with the strategic priorities of the Sustaining Engineering group.
  • Take ownership of these tools, ensuring their maintenance, continuous improvement, and adoption.

PLM Readiness & Data transformation

  • Define and own the product data model in preparation for PLM implementation.
  • Coordinate and execute mock data migration and cutover rehearsals in collaboration with IT

Other

  • Data Analysis & Decision Support
  • Provide stakeholders with actionable, data-driven insights to identify improvement opportunities and intervention needs.
  • Support the deployment and long-term operation of the PLM system.
  • Technology Watch & Best Practices
  • Monitor market trends and technological developments related to data management and associated tools.
  • Recommend the adoption of new technologies and best practices to improve data management and operational efficiency.
  • Provide data support for risk management activities within the Sustaining Engineering group.
Minimum Requirements
  • Master's degree or DEC with a specialization in Data Analysis, Data Management, or equivalent
  • 5 to 10 years in a similar role preferred
  • End-to-end understanding of BMS product manufacturing
  • Strong expertise in SQL query development
  • Office & BI tools: Microsoft Office, Excel, Power BI, Domo
  • Self-confidence and autonomy
  • Strong analytical mindset
  • Clear and effective communication
  • Bilingual French and English: To serve clients and external service providers across Canada and USA
