Purpose of Job:
Reliability Engineer with capability to lead and drive preventive maintenance optimization, equipment failure analysis, and risk-based critical spares strategies for automated process, aseptic filling, and packaging equipment supporting liquid medical device & pharmaceutical manufacturing.
Key Activities:
  • The Sr. Reliability Engineer is responsible for ensuring that B+L Greenville's equipment and processes operate at optimal levels and meet the needs of the organization. Their main goal is to increase equipment uptime, reliability, and efficiency.
  • They achieve this by analyzing data, identifying problems, and developing solutions for potential equipment issues before they occur.
  • The Sr. Reliability Engineer's focus is primarily on identifying and solving problems related to the reliability of systems and equipment.
  • Lead the continuous improvement of preventive maintenance programs by converting known failure modes, historical work order data, and OEM guidance into effective, technically sound PM tasks that prevent recurrence of failures.
  • Analyze equipment performance using reliability metrics such as MTBF, MTTR, downtime frequency, and failure patterns to identify opportunities for PM optimization, task replacement strategies, and equipment design improvements.
  • Serve as a technical owner of failure analysis, deploying root cause analysis (RCA) and failure mode methodologies to address chronic, high-impact equipment failures and translate findings into permanent corrective actions.
  • Drive the development and sustainment of reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) practices in partnership with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams.
  • Establish and maintain risk-based critical spare parts strategies, ensuring critical components are identified, stocked, linked to PM tasks where appropriate, and reviewed periodically to balance reliability risk and inventory cost.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of existing PMs and spare strategies, recommending changes based on failure history, execution quality, and observed equipment performance

Qualifications:
Education
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline.

Experience
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in manufacturing processes, automation, and equipment engineering.
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives and equipment reliability programs.
  • Experience in project management is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in ISO 9000 and GMP-regulated environments.
  • Experience in medical device and/or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing, root cause analysis, and process optimization methodologies.
