Job description

We are partnered with an ENR Top 25 contractor looking to hire a Senior Project Manager for its growing Chicago operation.

This is an opportunity to join a nationally recognized builder with the resources to deliver large, technically complex projects without sacrificing the stability and local relationships of an established regional team.

The business has a diverse portfolio spanning commercial, healthcare, education, advanced manufacturing, mission-critical and large-scale institutional construction. That diversification, combined with a strong backlog and long-standing client relationships, provides genuine stability and protection against fluctuations in any single market.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • Lead large, high-profile projects, including builds valued well above $100M
  • Join an ENR Top 25 contractor with a strong national reputation
  • Work alongside dedicated preconstruction, estimating, scheduling, VDC, safety and field teams
  • Diverse project portfolio with limited reliance on one sector
  • Strong backlog and a consistent pipeline of work throughout Chicagoland
  • Clear progression toward Project Executive and senior leadership
  • Established systems, technology and resources that allow project teams to operate effectively

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects from preconstruction and procurement through construction and final closeout
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, engineers and project stakeholders
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, contracts, forecasting and risk
  • Lead and mentor Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers and Project Engineers
  • Partner closely with field leadership to maintain safety, quality and schedule expectations
  • Oversee subcontractor procurement, buyout, change management and financial reporting
  • Build strong client relationships and identify opportunities for repeat business
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, profitably and to the highest standard

Experience Required

  • Eight or more years of commercial construction experience with a reputable General Contractor
  • Previous experience leading large or technically complex projects
  • Strong understanding of project financials, contracts, scheduling and risk management
  • Proven ability to lead project teams and manage client relationships
  • Experience across commercial, healthcare, education, industrial, mission-critical or institutional construction is preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or a related discipline is preferred

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary between $160,000 and $195,000, depending on experience
  • Annual performance bonus, typically targeting 15–20%
  • Company vehicle or monthly vehicle allowance
  • Fuel card and project-related expenses
  • Comprehensive medical, dental and vision insurance
  • 401(k) plan with company match
  • Three to four weeks of paid time off
  • Paid holidays and parental leave
  • Company-paid life and disability insurance
  • Laptop, phone and necessary technology
  • Professional-development and continuing-education support

This position is suited to a Senior Project Manager who wants access to larger projects, stronger resources and long-term career progression within one of the country’s most established contractors.
