Sr.ProjectEngineer-Battery Development

TheSr. Project Engineeris responsible formanaging multiplelow-moderate complex engineering projects with minimal direction. Individuals in this position will provide project management and necessary technical direction toassuresuccessful andtimelyimplementation of projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership overmultiple low-moderatecomplex design projects. Provides direction,guidanceand engineeringexpertiseto team members. Review work of designers,engineersand other project team members.

  • Responsible for the completion of assigned engineering projects within budgetary and scheduling guidelines.

  • Communicates, both verbal and written, toassureall groups are working toward the goal oftimelyproject completion. Communicate technical details, ideas, and concepts to engineers and non-engineers in multiple locations.

  • Drive designof projectto meet market driven design guides and fulfill cost, timing, reliability, andhigh-volumemanufacturing requirements.

  • Analyze,evaluateand select from design execution alternatives to best meet specificationobjectivesand implement designs into mass production.

  • Accountable for technical elements of project execution including integration of complicated components and assemblies, materialselection,packagingand safety, regulatory andstandardscompliance.

  • Conduct design and safety reviews as needed to gain necessary approvals for product development phase progressions.

  • Comply withall METCo procedures coveringProduct Support and Value Engineeringdevelopment and design output in addition to procedures of non-engineering departments related to project flow.

  • Consistently visualizesentirescope of a project withvery littleguidance.

  • Schedules, develops agendas,facilitatesand documents project meetings.

  • Frame up technical tradeoff discussions with Marketing and other cross function team members. Exercise effective scheduling development work to meet overall project milestones.

  • Ensure effective communication with cross functional international team as well as management team. This includes daily team communications as well ashigh levelproject summaries.

  • Work with Operations,Qualityand Suppliers to confirm delivery of conforming products.

  • Motivate cross functional team to work toward, andaccomplish, projectobjectives.Maintain focus of project team on cost,performanceand schedule.

  • Does not have formal supervisory responsibilities, although will provide input for performance appraisals for Engineering and cross functional project team members. Also oversees day-to-day activities of project team members.

  • Identifyproject risks and implement risk reduction plans.

Manufacturing

  • Interacts extensively with manufacturing plants and outside suppliers to achieve project goals.

  • Makescomponentmaterial or process recommendations.

Testing

  • Exhibits vision and foresight to test the extremes of a design and guide the team members through well thought out, logical test regimes.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degreeor equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering field.

  • Minimum 7 yearsofrelevantengineering experience.

  • Experience successfully managing low-moderate complexity projects and/or subsystems of larger projects.

  • Leading cross functional teams through problem solving

  • Electrical Project Experience isa plusbut notrequired.

  • Mechanical/Electrical engineering aptitude including a broad knowledge of engineering materials used in power tools and accessories as well as an understanding ofmanufacturingprocess associated with these materials.

  • Must have a working design knowledge of a wide variety of the technologies associated with Milwaukee products. Must be able to personally conduct detailedanalyses, orrecognize the need and seek theappropriate expertiseto achieve the desired results.

  • Ability to draft compressive test plans and specifications.

  • CAD Skill Level: Basic 3DCAD andtolerance analysis.

  • Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)

  • Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Officesoftwareincluding Microsoft Project.

  • Ability to travelinternationallyrequired(10-15% travel).
