Job posting end date: 08/28/2026

Introduction

We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer, to join our Field Service Engineering team. You will be responsible for leading the planning, execution, and delivery of complex equipment refurbishment, upgrade, retrofit, and major component replacement projects. This involves developing technical solutions, preparing engineering deliverables, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and supporting field execution activities to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Your role plays a crucial part in helping our customers maximize equipment performance and reliability while supporting Metso's commitment to operational excellence and sustainable solutions.

In this position, you will report to the Manager, Service Execution. This is a 1-year contract position. The role is mainly located in Montreal, QC, with flexible and hybrid working arrangements available; however, it involves up to 15% travel to customer sites to support project execution and field activities.

Team you belong to

You will join a team of experienced project engineers, field service specialists, and technical experts who are passionate about delivering innovative service solutions for mining and mineral processing equipment. The team strives to provide customers with safe, efficient, and reliable equipment upgrades, retrofits, refurbishments, and major component replacement projects.

We are currently developing turnkey service projects, maintenance solutions, equipment modernization programs, and field execution strategies that help customers optimize performance and extend asset life.
We work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including field service technicians, engineering teams, manufacturing, supply chain, project managers, contractors, freight providers, and customers worldwide. Our team culture is all about collaboration, technical excellence, continuous improvement, customer focus, and safety. Team members are located across Canada and other global Metso locations.

What you'll do

Lead the technical planning, execution, and delivery of service and turnkey projects, ensuring quality, schedule, and budget objectives are achieved.
Develop project scopes of work, schedules, budgets, risk assessments, and mitigation plans.
Prepare and review mechanical drawings and technical documentation to support fabrication, installation, refurbishment, retrofit, and upgrade activities.
Design and develop tools, procedures, and field support solutions for project execution teams.
Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, including engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and field service resources, to achieve project milestones.
Review and approve engineering designs, specifications, calculations, and reports to ensure compliance with applicable standards and customer requirements.
Act as the primary technical liaison between customers, contractors, and internal stakeholders throughout project execution.
Mentor and support junior engineers while promoting innovative solutions and continuous improvement initiatives.

Who you are

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering.
P.Eng. certification in a Canadian province (QC, ON, NL, or BC).
10-15 years of engineering experience in heavy industry, preferably involving mining, mineral processing, or related equipment.
Strong knowledge of Metso equipment, including crushers, mills, screens, pumps, bulk material handling, pyro, and process equipment.
Experience managing multiple engineering projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.
Strong technical problem-solving, project management, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Proficiency with CAD software, Microsoft Office applications, Salesforce, and SAP.
Valid Canadian passport, valid driver's license, and fluency in English; French language skills are considered a strong asset.

What's in it for you

An inspiring purpose - Enabling sustainable modern life. Minerals and metals are the backbone of essential functions in the modern world. However, there's a pressing need for more sustainable solutions to collect and process them. At Metso, you get to be part of transforming the industry and making a positive change.
Hybrid working possibilities - While we are big advocates of meeting and collaborating in person, we believe in fostering a flexible work environment.
A thriving culture - We are committed to developing an inclusive culture that enables everyone to do their best and reach their full potential. A culture that is courageous, compelling, and caring, and unites our people to build a sustainable future together.
Extensive learning opportunities - Ongoing growth dialogues, internal mobility, mentoring programs, education assistance, ambitious projects, and global opportunities.
Worldwide support - Leverage our network of peers across the world, offering valuable assistance. We get things done together, through open and honest communication.
