The company specializes in complex public works projects, including transportation infrastructure, utilities, environmental construction, and other large-scale civil projects. Position Overview:
C.A.C. Industries is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Senior Project Accountant to support project financial management across multiple heavy civil construction projects. This individual will serve as a key liaison between Accounting, Estimating, and Project Management, ensuring accurate project budgets, cost tracking, productivity analysis, and financial reporting.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in heavy civil construction accounting, project controls, job costing, and cost-to-complete analysis. Experience working with construction ERP systems, preferably CMiC, is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:
Project Budgeting & Cost Management:
  • Establish project budgets within CMiC upon contract award.
  • Coordinate with Estimating and Project Management teams to convert detailed estimates into project budgets.
  • Upload and maintain project budget information within CMiC.
  • Monitor project budgets and actual costs to identify variances and potential risks.
  • Reconcile project costs between accounting and project management systems.
Project Controls & Cost Analysis:
  • Prepare and maintain quarterly Cost-to-Complete (CTC) reports.
  • Analyze productivity rates and compare actual performance against estimates.
  • Identify profit fade, profit gain, underbilling's, and other financial trends.
  • Assist project teams in monitoring project performance and maintaining accurate forecasting.
  • Perform job cost analysis and provide recommendations to leadership.
Labor, Equipment & Overhead Analysis:
  • Maintain and update labor and equipment rates within CMiC.
  • Develop and monitor internal equipment rates and compare actual costs to industry benchmarks.
  • Review labor costs, fringe benefits, insurance costs, and overhead allocations.
  • Analyze shop costs and assist in developing cost allocation methodologies and control procedures.
Cash Flow & Reporting:
  • Assist with project cash flow forecasting and analysis.
  • Monitor actual versus projected project cash flows.
  • Develop and enhance reporting tools, dashboards, and performance metrics for Project Managers and leadership.
  • Support the creation of standardized operational and financial reports.
Systems & Process Improvement:
  • Become a subject matter expert in the company's project management and accounting systems.
  • Provide support to project teams for CMiC-related questions and troubleshooting.
  • Assist with process improvements to increase efficiency, reporting accuracy, and visibility into project performance.
Project Administration:
  • Monitor requisition submissions and project billing support activities.
  • Ensure project financial information is accurate, complete, and timely.
  • Work closely with Accounting, Operations, and Project Management teams to support project success.
Qualifications:
 
 Required Experience:
  • 5+ years of accounting, project accounting, project controls, or cost accounting experience within the construction industry.
  • Heavy civil construction, infrastructure, utility, transportation, or public works experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Job costing.
    • Construction budgeting.
    • Cost-to-complete (CTC) reporting.
    • Project forecasting.
    • Productivity analysis.
    • Cash flow management.

Technical Skills:
  • Experience with construction ERP systems, preferably CMiC.
