Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a highly experienced Senior Contract Administrator to lead construction administration activities across a diverse portfolio of architectural projects. This senior leadership role combines construction administration expertise, project management oversight, staff leadership, and client relationship management. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to clients and contractors, oversee project delivery from tender through closeout, and contribute to business development and strategic growth initiatives within the Edmonton office.

Role accountabilities:

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead and mentor the Construction Administration team, providing technical guidance, oversight, and professional development opportunities.
  • Support the management and growth of architecture staff within the Edmonton office.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture focused on quality, accountability, and client service.
  • Promote construction administration best practices, consistency, and continuous improvement across project teams.
  • Act as a senior resource for complex project and contract administration matters.

Construction Administration

  • Lead projects through the construction documentation phase and oversee delivery from tender award through project closeout.
  • Review and manage shop drawings, product submittals, Requests for Information (RFIs), change orders, and contract documentation.
  • Conduct regular site visits and inspections, preparing detailed field reports and recommendations.
  • Travel throughout Northern Alberta to support construction activities and maintain project oversight.
  • Coordinate effectively with owners, consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Monitor construction progress, identify potential risks, and proactively implement mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure contract compliance and maintain high standards of quality, safety, and project performance.

Project Management & Financial Oversight

  • Manage multiple concurrent projects through all phases of planning, design, construction, and closeout.
  • Oversee project budgets, invoicing, forecasting, and financial reporting using Oracle or similar project management systems.
  • Monitor project performance, schedule adherence, and resource allocation to achieve project objectives.
  • Support project teams in managing scope changes, contract negotiations, and client expectations.
  • Provide regular project status updates to leadership, clients, and stakeholders.

Client Development & Business Growth

  • Serve as a key client-facing representative and trusted advisor.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, contractors, consultants, and industry partners.
  • Support business development activities, proposals, and pursuit strategies.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for Design-Build opportunities originating from the Edmonton office.
  • Identify opportunities for repeat business and contribute to the growth of Arcadis' project portfolio.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in construction administration, contract administration, and project delivery within the architectural, engineering, or construction industry.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams and mentoring technical staff.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, procurement processes, contract documentation, and construction methodologies.
  • Experience reviewing shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and contract modifications.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality, schedule, and budget objectives.
  • Experience with Oracle project management systems or equivalent financial/project controls software.
  • Strong knowledge of Alberta building codes, construction regulations, and industry standards.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel throughout Northern Alberta.
  • Experience managing projects with Alberta Infrastructure is an asset.

The salary range for this position is $84,000 - $127,000. The base salary represents Arcadis' hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
