HELP SHAPE THE FUTURE OF HEALTHCARE IN NORTH SIMCOE

At the Georgian Bay General Hospital (GBGH) Foundation, we work together to empower our hospital to deliver excellent healthcare. Thanks to the generosity of donors, volunteers, and community partners, we are making transformative investments in local healthcare and advancing one of our organization’s most ambitious fundraising initiatives through the We See You: Inside and Out Campaign.

As we continue to build momentum and strengthen relationships with our donors and community leaders, we are seeking a dynamic, experienced and highly collaborative fundraising professional to join our team as Senior Key Relationships Officer (Major Gifts).

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate relationship-builder and accomplished fundraiser who believes that meaningful philanthropy is built through trust, teamwork and a shared commitment to making an impact.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Senior Key Relationships Officer serves as a senior member of the Foundation team and leads strategies focused on major gifts, planned giving, donor engagement, and stewardship.

In this role, you will manage an active portfolio of approximately 50 major gift donors and prospects with the capacity to make leadership gifts of $50,000 and above. Working in close partnership with Foundation colleagues, volunteers, physicians, hospital leaders, and community champions, you will identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward gifts that strengthen healthcare for residents across North Simcoe.

As a senior member of the Foundation team, you will contribute to a collaborative fundraising environment where colleagues work together to advance donor relationships, align strategies, and support shared organizational goals. The successful candidate will be a relationship-builder who combines initiative and accountability with a team-first approach, recognizing that exceptional donor experiences are created through partnership and shared effort.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Build Meaningful Donor Relationships

  • Develop and manage strategic cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans for a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors.
  • Identify and engage new philanthropic partners capable of making significant investments in healthcare.
  • Inspire donors through thoughtful conversations that connect their passions to meaningful impact.
  • Work collaboratively with the Foundation team, volunteers, physicians, hospital leadership, and community leaders to advance donor relationships in a coordinated and thoughtful way.
  • Ensure donor strategies are aligned with organizational goals, campaign priorities, and the Foundation’s commitment to excellent relationship-based fundraising.

Drive Major Gift Success

  • Secure leadership-level gifts of $50,000 or more.
  • Contribute to annual fundraising goals exceeding $3 million in major gift revenue.
  • Lead donor engagement efforts related to leadership giving and recognition programs, while working closely with colleagues to ensure donors feel valued, informed, and connected.
  • Support sponsorship and partnership opportunities that strengthen Foundation initiatives.

Advance Legacy Giving

  • Identify and cultivate planned giving opportunities within the donor portfolio.
  • Build relationships with donors interested in creating a lasting charitable legacy.
  • Collaborate with professional advisors and philanthropic partners to support estate and legacy gift conversations.

Lead and Inspire

  • Foster a collaborative, donor-centred culture focused on relationship building, service excellence, and shared accountability
  • Contribute to Foundation planning, strategy development, and organizational growth.
  • Bring a team-first mindset to daily work, supporting colleagues, sharing information, and helping create a positive and high-performing Foundation environment.
  • Help ensure donor decisions, communications, and strategies reflect the best interests of the donor, the Foundation, and the hospital.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 5-7 years of progressive fundraising experience, with demonstrated success securing major gifts.
  • Proven ability to cultivate, solicit, and steward gifts at the $50,000+ level.
  • Experience building trusted relationships with donors, volunteers, executives, physicians, and community leaders.
  • Strong understanding of moves management, major gift fundraising, and donor stewardship best practices.
  • Experience working with donor databases and CRM systems, preferably Raiser's Edge.
  • Knowledge of charitable giving regulations and fundraising ethics.
  • A demonstrated commitment to ethical, donor-centred fundraising and to working in a way that strengthens the whole organization.

Preferred Assets

  • Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) designation.
  • Membership in AFP, AHP, and/or CAGP.
  • Healthcare philanthropy experience.
  • Experience working with private foundations, family foundations, and donor-advised funds.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset.
