Job Description
Under the guidance of the Branch Executive Director, the Senior Program Director is responsible for the development, organization, and delivery of high-quality YMCA program(s) to the Aquatics and Sports departments.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in Recreation Management, Physical Education, or business or related field. YMCA program-specific certifications preferred.
Experience: One to two years related experience preferred.
Knowledge: Knowledge of development and implementation. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of parents, coaches, and the general public.
Personal Skills: Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Each staff member is expected to recognize, support, and motivate Health Seekers of all ages. Facilitate environments in which members of all ages can build supportive, caring relationships with other members and staff.
Essential Functions
Build relationships with members, staff and volunteers.
Ensure a welcoming and clean environment in your department areas.
Direct and supervise the Sports, Aquatic and Fitness departments to meet the needs of YMCA members and the community in accordance with the Association and branch strategic plan.
Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule and direct personnel and volunteers as needed. Review and evaluate staff performance. Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
Establish new program activities and expand programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
Assist in the marketing and distribution of program information, organize and schedule program registrations.
Ensure the registration and payment of program participants in Daxko. Track and communicate outstanding balances in your departments.
Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations.
Develop and monitor program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
Coordinate use of facilities for program activities and events.
Assist in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.
Model relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Respond to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
Assist with Program Committee meetings.
Compile program statistics. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in programs.
Promote and incorporate the YMCA four core values and character development model in to all program activities.
Attend Leadership Team Meetings.
Other duties as assigned.
