Lead and oversee the orthotic and prosthetic fabrication and delivery operation. Coordinate the timely and cost-effective delivery of fabricated devices. Ensure adherence to all safety and administrative policies and procedures.


Depending on the operational requirements, size of the Hanger fabrication site and, subject to limitations imposed by state and/or local law, this position may include some or all of the functions listed below.

  • Plan and coordinate available resources to achieve quality, production and financial objectives.
  • Organize daily work flow to produce highest productivity possible within the department while maintaining product quality.
  • Responsible for scheduling and expediting all work through the department.
  • Order all necessary materials and components required to meet daily production schedule.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and develop department personnel.
  • Motivate, engage, and develop team members to achieve production goals while fostering accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Assess production workflows to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and constraints that impact quality, productivity, and on-time delivery.
  • Apply Lean Six Sigma principles and continuous improvement methodologies to solve problems, improve workflow, reduce waste, and drive sustainable improvements in operational performance.
  • Facilitate communication between practitioners and technicians on technical issues to enhance quality control.
  • Build good communications between the Central Fabrication department and its customers, branches, Central Purchasing and all departments within Hanger.
  • Provide all pricing for work performed.
  • Ensure a safe working environment and promote “safety awareness” among employees.
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and other governmental rules and regulations.
  • Create and distribute all department reports and summaries.
  • Ensure adherence to all administrative and financial policies and procedures; develop company spirit and teamwork within the department.
  • Performs other duties or special projects as assigned.

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 5+ years of supervisory experience in orthotics/prosthetics fabrication OR 7+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or production environment.

Preferred

  • BS in Business Administration, Production Operations, O&P.
  • 5 years of experience in Orthotics/Prosthetics production management, including team supervision and workflow optimization.
  • Lean Six Sigma training, Green Belt or higher.
