Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Purpose: The Sales Engineer is responsible for the successful planning and execution of assigned New Business Development Opportunities within target markets and with a focus on contract manufacturing. The Sales Engineer works to ensure scope, cost budget, BOM and schedule commitments are met and communicated across the organization and maintains management methods. This role will be the technical liaison between TEAM and the customer. The Sales Engineer will focus on new business quote activity along with customer interaction, customer visits, meetings and tradeshows to support NBD activity as required.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
• Ensure a safe work environment for self and others. Follow all safety rules and regulations. Demonstrate commitment to safety program.
• Primary responsibility is to identify new potential customers, secure appropriate quote opportunities, build relationships that lead to new business opportunities.
• Manage contract manufacturing opportunities, with the focus containing opportunities that include multiple components/suppliers that may need a BOM format, assemblies, or other complexities that would warrant the need for a project manager to coordinate the project across TEAM internal production teams and supply base.
• Compiles necessary information to create initial project costs/quotes, including tooling and component estimates, project deliverables, and estimated timelines from RFQ to SOP.
• Provides the Director of New Business Development with BOM Costs for assigned opportunities including component cost, tooling, and any capital expenditures needed by operations.
• Cross Functional Liaison will collaborate with internal departments-engineering, operations, production, supply chain and quality-to ensure production schedules align with customer timelines.
• Creates the development BOM, Tooling Cost, Lead-Time, Cap Ex. Requirements and Timelines for review and approval for senior management.
• Coordinates the tooling Kick Off deadlines with each plant or supplier to meet production lead-times and start up goals.
• Works with Operations to facilitate the smooth introduction of new projects to the production floor.
• Maintain ethical and responsive relationships with internal and external customers.
• Demonstrates leadership commitment to the TEAM Industries Quality Management system and coach subordinates on their impact on TEAM QMS objectives.
• Promotes a positive atmosphere. Actively supports activities that promote the welfare and morale of TEAM employees.
• Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
Education & Experience:
• Bachelor's degree Engineering related degree preferred, or the equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.
• Minimum 5+years of technical experience in a design or manufacturing role, project management or technical sales required.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Proficient in use of computers/Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Project, etc.)
• Must possess exceptional organizational and communication skills
• Mechanical/Technical skills with an understanding of manufacturing processes.
• CAD/Windchill/AutoCAD
• ERP System experience-preferably Epicor
• Proficiency in reading technical drawings and GDT.
• Travel is needed to support the level of NBD activity and trade shows, up to 25%.
• PMI Training a plus
