Job description

The Epic-Certified Sr. Ambulatory Analyst is a senior-level, highly technical role responsible for the design, build, implementation, optimization, and support of the Epic Ambulatory application. This role collaborates closely with clinical and operational stakeholders to ensure the system meets organizational needs and supports efficient, high-quality patient care. Designs, builds, and tests new requirements to ensure system integration across Epic modules and other third-party systems.
The Sr. Analyst serves as a subject matter expert (SME), proactively identifying system optimization opportunities, leading medium to complex initiatives, and ensuring application integrity through upgrades, enhancements, and regulatory changes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.
• Lead and oversee small to medium-scale and cross-functional projects, including development of project plans, timelines, and resource coordination.
• Analyze clinical and business needs to implement solutions aligned with best practices.
• Design, build, configure, and optimize Epic Ambulatory workflows to improve operational efficiency (SmartTools, orders, navigators, templates).
• Develop and document detailed system requirements, functional specifications, and change requests.
• Conduct impact analysis for system upgrades, new releases, and regulatory updates; assess workflow implications and implement required changes.
• Monitor and evaluate system performance, ensuring optimal function and data integrity.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation including workflow diagrams, enhancement documentation, test scripts, test scenarios, and test plans.
• Execute system testing, identify defects, and coordinate remediation through resolution.
• Identify project and application risks; maintain issue logs with clear ownership, mitigation strategies, and documented closure.
• Serve as a liaison between operational stakeholders, IT teams, and software vendors to ensure alignment between technology and business processes.
• Communicate application changes, enhancements, and best practices clearly to impacted teams.
• Provide advanced analytical support and serve as a resource to end users to maximize system utilization and performance.
• Support the training, mentoring, and development of junior analysts.
• Develop and communicate project timelines for service requests and assigned initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university required.
• Associate's degree with six or more years of directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
Certification
• Active Epic certification in Ambulatory required.
Experience
• Minimum of 5+ years of Systems Analyst experience, with progressive responsibility in Epic Ambulatory build and optimization.
• Minimum of 5+ years of Information Technology experience, preferably within a healthcare environment.
• Proven ability to manage moderate to complex projects independently.
