Job description

WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH
As a member of the newly established NikeSKIMS Product Creation team, you will work in a fast-moving, agile environment in close partnership with SKIMS. You will collaborate with NIKE onshore and offshore footwear functional partners, including Innovation, Design, Product Management, Product Development, Material Development, Product Testing, PCC, PMO, and SKIMS partners.
You will navigate the NIKE matrix to ensure the team's process model aligns with NIKE Footwear Engineering standards and methodologies while consistently driving product excellence. This role reports to the Footwear Product Creation Lead.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The NikeSKIMS team is looking for a Senior Footwear Product Engineer with strong footwear product creation expertise and experience working with overseas manufacturing partners. This candidate will help guide products from development through manufacturing, using tools, systems, data, and cross-functional partnership to drive quality, cost effectiveness, manufacturability, and clear decision-making.
We are seeking someone who operates with confidence in less-defined spaces, applies innovative engineering approaches to new concepts, products, and processes, and can read and interpret technical drawings, analyze process data, and translate insights into refined product specifications and recommendations. This person leverages consumer insights and sound judgment to evaluate trade-offs that create the greatest benefit for the business, the product, and the consumer.
  • Bachelor's degree in Footwear Product Creation, Product Testing, Development, or related field. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience and training.
  • Minimum 3+ years of relevant industry experience in footwear manufacturing, product creation, research and development, product testing, industrial engineering, or mechanical engineering.
  • Proficiency in reading technical drawings, design sketches, and/or 3D digital files, with the ability to use a systems approach to identify potential problems, challenges, options, and solutions.
  • Knowledge of lasts, footwear pattern engineering, tooling, materials, test methodologies, and manufacturing processes is highly preferred.
  • Ability to identify and drive valuable engineering solutions from concept through manufacturing.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with multiple internal and external partners.
  • Digital literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Office, Miro, spreadsheets, database management, and 2D/3D CAD/CAM tools and pattern engineering software; proficiency is a plus.
  • Ability to value differences, work across cultures, and navigate NIKE's organizational matrix.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to work across stakeholders and competing priorities.
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 35%, as needed.

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON
You will help drive NikeSKIMS footwear product creation from brief through commercialization across sport and lifestyle products, bringing engineering expertise, cross-functional partnership, and a strong focus on craft, fit, comfort, performance, quality, sustainability, and cost/value.
  • Provide early technical guidance on construction, materials, manufacturing processes, tooling, sustainability, cost, and engineering solutions, including process, lab testing, MCS, and MPS considerations.
  • Identify manufacturing, sustainability, performance, quality, and costing risks early to help prevent issues before they impact product delivery.
  • Review samples throughout product creation and commercialization, providing clear feedback to enable cost-effective, high-quality deliverables that meet consumer expectations.
  • Help develop new NikeSKIMS engineering best practices and evolve existing practices to improve quality, craftsmanship, performance, and efficiency.
