To thrive as a Senior Network Engineer in government, you need in-depth knowledge of network design, security protocols, and troubleshooting, typically backed by a bachelor’s degree in IT or a related field and several years of experience. Familiarity with tools such as Cisco IOS, firewalls, VPNs, and certifications like CCNP or CISSP are highly valued.
