Saliense is now hiring an experienced Software Application Developer to join our team full time in support of the Office of Naval Research (ONR) in Arlington, VA. The Developer will support modernization efforts to move from on-premises to the AWS Cloud. This position requires an active Secret Clearance in order to start work, so US or Naturalized Citizenship is a requirement.


This is a hybrid position, with 3x a week onsite required in Arlington, VA.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Works individually or as part of a team. Reviews and tests software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results.
  • Modernizes current applications to leverage the cloud architecture.
  • Provides cloud application engineering support for modernization efforts to include migration to Cloud platform (AWS / Azure)
  • Assesses Security Technical Implementation Guideline (STIG) compliance, audits, and applies STIG configurations and changes required.
  • Redesigns existing applications to break current tight integration processes between systems into web services/servlets.
  • Integrates data exchange between systems using system API and develop web services / web hooks.
  • Assists in development of user stories and level of effort estimates, applying Agile Scrum methodology and participates in daily stand-up meetings.
  • Supports User Acceptance Testing and issue remediation.


Required Experience


  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • 5 years overall experience including 3+ years of developer experience with DevSecOps developing in a cloud CI/CD pipeline.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering solutions using Cloud technologies, such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, etc.
  • C#/.NET4.x/.NET Core development experience required.
  • Java/Enterprise App Development
  • AWS Server Administration and Networking
  • SharePoint Online (SPO) and On-Prem 2019
  • J2EE/WebSphere/WebLogic
  • Experience performing patching and codes-scanning; must be able to patch information assurance vulnerabilities, application/OS updates, and audit/apply required STIG settings.
  • Familiar with software lifecycle operations: Experience performing end-to-end development from requirements, design, implementation, and deployment to production environment.
  • Experience performing successful design/build/deployment of Web Services.
  • Developer background and ability to quickly pick up new technologies as needed.
  • Must hold an active IAT Level II Certification: CompTIA Security+, CCNA, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP.
  • Computing Environment Certification (DoD 8570 requirement)
  • Eligible for a DOD Secret Clearance


Preferred Experience


  • AWS Certified Developer (or equivalent)
  • NET Core and .NET Framework experience highly desired.
  • Experience operating in a team development environment.
  • Experience operating in AWS or Azure CI/CD pipeline.
  • Experience operating in Naval environment(s) supporting Navy, ideally ONR clients.
  • Experience creating Infrastructure as Code (IaC) scripts (Bash, JSON, YAML, Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Proficient using AWS DevOps and AWS services such as EC2, ELB, CloudDWhat, Lambda, CodeBuild, Jenkins, Maven, GitHub, Node.js
  • Experience with development in PHP, Javascript/NodeJS, BASH, and Python
  • Familiar with Container, Docker
  • Familiar with AWS and AWS restricted environments using: S3, EC2, Cloud9, Redis, RDS MariaDB, Cloudwatch, and ImageBuilder many different types of data.
