Job description

Our client is seeking a Senior Natural Gas Trader to lead trading activities across the Northeast market, developing and executing strategies that maximize the value of a diverse natural gas portfolio. This role combines asset-backed and proprietary trading, leveraging storage, transportation, and LNG assets while collaborating across Commercial, Risk, and Operations to drive profitable growth.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute trading strategies that optimize the value of the natural gas portfolio and enhance profitability.
  • Analyze market fundamentals, identify commercial opportunities, and execute short-term natural gas transactions within established risk parameters.
  • Partner with Commercial, Risk, and Operations teams to optimize asset utilization, manage market exposure, and support fuel procurement strategies.
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers, customers, and pipeline partners while mentoring junior traders and contributing to the growth of the trading organization.

Required Experience / Skills
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience, with at least four years of direct natural gas trading experience.
  • Strong understanding of physical natural gas markets, derivatives, quantitative risk metrics, hedging strategies, and portfolio optimization.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel. Experience with ETRM platforms is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop profitable trading strategies, manage risk, build commercial relationships, and thrive in a fast-paced trading environment.
