Job Title: Senior Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer / Azure Data Architect
Location: Newark, NJ (Hybrid - Onsite 3 days/week: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)
Duration: 6 Months (Contract)

Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer / Azure Data Architect to design, build, and modernize enterprise-scale data platforms on Microsoft Fabric and Azure. This role requires deep hands-on engineering expertise combined with architecture and technical leadership responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and architect modern Azure & Microsoft Fabric data platforms to support complex business needs
  • Build and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, and Spark
  • Develop and optimize PySpark and Spark SQL workloads for large-scale data processing
  • Design dimensional, Lakehouse, Medallion, and EDW data models
  • Lead proof-of-concepts (PoCs) and architecture validations
  • Provide technical direction and architecture guidance to data engineering teams
  • Implement best practices for data ingestion, transformation, and distribution
  • Ensure performance optimization, scalability, reliability, and security
  • Drive modernization initiatives to reduce technical debt
  • Collaborate with business, analytics, and BI teams to deliver high-quality data solutions
  • Contribute to target-state architecture and data roadmaps

Required Skills & Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in cloud data engineering (Azure preferred)
  • 12+ years of experience with SQL, schema design, and dimensional data modeling
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric Data Platform
  • Expertise in Azure Data Factory (ADF) and Azure data services
  • Strong experience with Databricks, Spark, PySpark, and Spark SQL
  • Experience with Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL, ADLS
  • Solid understanding of data warehouse best practices and development standards
  • Experience designing enterprise-scale data architectures
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
