Job description

The Sr. Mechanical Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all mechanical installations and systems at airport construction projects comply with design specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. This role involves conducting inspections, testing equipment, documenting findings, and coordinating with project engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure high-quality and safe mechanical infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

The key duties and responsibilities of Sr. Mechanical Inspector include:

1. Inspection & Compliance:

  • Conduct inspections of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, fueling systems, and baggage handling systems at airport facilities.
  • Ensure installations comply with project specifications, airport authority regulations, ASHRAE, NFPA, and local building codes.
  • Verify that all mechanical work aligns with approved drawings and design documents.
  • Review electrical design documents and provide feedback to the client for multiple design submissions.

2. Testing & Commissioning:

  • Oversee and participate in the testing, commissioning, and startup of airport mechanical systems.
  • Ensure proper functionality of pumps, compressors, piping, ventilation, fire suppression, and fuel distribution systems.
  • Identify any discrepancies or defects and coordinate necessary corrective actions.

3. Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, non-conformance reports, and corrective actions.
  • Prepare and submit daily reports, punch lists, and final inspection documentation.
  • Assist in preparing technical reports and recommendations for project stakeholders.

4. Coordination & Communication:

  • Work closely with project managers, contractors, and design teams to resolve issues.
  • Attend progress meetings and provide updates on inspection findings.
  • Ensure that work is performed in accordance with safety regulations and airport operational requirements.

5. Safety & Quality Assurance:

  • Monitor compliance with workplace safety regulations and environmental policies.
