A leading electronics testing company is seeking a Test Engineer to modernize and support automated manufacturing test systems by converting legacy test applications into C# within the company's test platform.

Test Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Analyze, convert, validate, and deploy legacy manufacturing, module, PCBA, instrument, and calibration test applications to C# within the test platform while preserving existing functionality, measurement methods, sequencing, calibration requirements, and pass/fail criteria.
  • Reverse-engineer legacy applications developed in C++, VB5/VB6, LabVIEW, .NET, HTML, Python, and related technologies, ensuring successful migration and functional equivalence through regression testing.
  • Develop and maintain software interfaces for electronic test equipment using SCPI, VISA, and other applicable hardware communication protocols, while troubleshooting software, instrumentation, communications, DUT, fixture, and test interface issues.
  • Develop reusable C# software components, maintain source code and revision control, and create technical documentation, including Test Instructions, to support long-term maintainability.
  • Support application deployment and provide knowledge transfer to Manufacturing and Test Engineering personnel while ensuring reliable operation within manufacturing test environments.

Test Engineer Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of relevant software development and automated test engineering experience, particularly developing software that controls and tests physical electronic hardware.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Equivalent combinations of education and relevant automated test/software experience.
  • Strong C# and Microsoft .NET software development skills.
  • Experience with automated electronic hardware test development, instrument communication and control, SCPI, VISA, Git/source control, debugging software and hardware interfaces, reverse-engineering and migrating legacy test applications, electronic test equipment, DUT/PCBA/module testing, manufacturing test and calibration, and technical documentation.
  • Experience with RF/telecommunications/networking products, TCP/IP, GPIB, USB, serial communications, ISO/IEC 17025 environments.
  • Experience with test platforms and with electronic test equipment from leading test and measurement manufacturers is preferred.
  • Experience with C++, Visual Basic 5/6, LabVIEW, and/or Python is preferred.
