Salary Range: 

$37.00-$45.00 USD hourly

What you will be doing: 

An Senior CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating a variety of machine tools (such as lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC machines) to produce precision metal parts and components. The role involves reading blueprints, adjusting machinery for specific production runs, and ensuring that products meet exact specifications.

Responsibilities: 

  • Serve as the technical expert for CNC machining operations, programming, tooling, and manufacturing processes.
  • Lead complex machine setups, first article inspections, and production optimization activities.
  • Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs to improve quality, efficiency, cycle times, and machine utilization.
  • Troubleshoot complex machining, tooling, programming, and equipment issues while minimizing downtime.
  • Lead machining process improvements using Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • Recommend tooling, fixturing, cutting parameters, and machining strategies to improve productivity and reduce manufacturing costs.
  • Coordinate prototype machining and support new product development and production launches.
  • Mentor and train Associate CNC Machinists and CNC Machinists on machining techniques, programming, setup procedures, safety, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Production to resolve manufacturing challenges and improve product quality.
  • Lead root cause investigations related to machining defects and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Support preventive maintenance planning and equipment reliability initiatives.
  • Assist in evaluating new equipment, tooling, and machining technologies.
  • Ensure compliance with all quality standards, safety regulations, and company procedures.
  • Champion Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Continuous Improvement initiatives throughout the machining department.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Technical certificate or Associate degree in Machining, Manufacturing Technology, or related field preferred.

  • CNC Programming certification or Journeyman Machinist certification preferred.

  • Advanced machining, CAD/CAM, or Lean Manufacturing certifications are a plus.

  • 6-10+ years of progressive CNC machining experience.

  • 5+ years of CNC programming experience.

  • Demonstrated experience leading complex machining projects, mentoring machinists, and driving process improvements.
