Job description

The Senior Manager, Regional Warehouse Operations is responsible for leading all warehouse and distribution activities for a regional logistics operation, ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective movement of materials and products throughout the supply chain. This role provides strategic and operational leadership across inventory management, receiving, storage, shipping, materials planning, and customer transitions while driving continuous improvement initiatives that support business growth and operational excellence.

The Senior Manager develops and executes warehouse strategies that improve service levels, inventory accuracy, productivity, quality, and cost performance. Working cross-functionally with manufacturing, supply chain, sales, IT, engineering, and quality teams, this leader ensures materials availability aligns with current and future business requirements. The role also serves as a key member of the leadership team by supporting network strategy, budgeting, capital planning, workforce development, and customer satisfaction objectives while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plans, directs, and monitors all areas of a warehouse which can include materials planning, inventory control, storage, shipping, receiving and/or repacking and returned goods activities so that the organization has access to the inputs, materials, goods, and services it needs for its current and future operations. Creates short to long-term objectives and strategies for assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Develops and implements materials handling procedures; monitors the cost and effectiveness of activities to optimize resources, prioritizes spending and achieves volume, timeliness, reliability, and safety standards.
  • Interprets inventory requests, production schedules, orders, and other documents to co-ordinate materials handling activities with the organization's current and anticipated demand for goods and materials.
  • Liaises with functional or operational area managers (e.g., in sales, production, or engineering) to ensure that the supply of materials meets their current and future needs.
  • Creates operating budgets and capital budgets with other leadership team members. Manages department expense budget. Participates in the business planning and budgeting process. Develops short and long-term cost containment/reduction strategies.
  • Has indirect responsibility of the Quality operations and staff onsite.
  • Manages the transition of new customers to the facility.
  • Assists the Director with network reporting, presentations and strategy.
  • Collaborates with Sales and IT to drive future kaizen direction.
  • Performs Human Resources activities including tracking of time and attendance, associate counseling, scheduling, evaluating work performance and assisting in skill development.
  • Fosters high morale and teamwork by supporting the activities of subordinates through daily interaction and one on one contact.
  • Provide oversight and coordination with Quality functions to ensure compliance and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop high-performing teams through coaching, performance management, succession planning, and employee development.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory guidelines.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of warehouse, distribution center, or logistics operations experience.
  • 7+ years of progressive people leadership experience managing supervisors, managers, and/or large hourly workforces.
  • Demonstrated experience leading warehouse operations in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience managing inventory control, shipping, receiving, materials planning, and distribution functions.
  • Proven ability to develop operational strategies and execute continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing operating budgets, capital expenditures, and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and collaborating with multiple business functions.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership capabilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and reporting tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within an automotive warehousing environment.
  • Experience utilizing Oracle EBS (Enterprise Business Suite).
  • Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement certification/experience.
