This is a hybrid role based in San Diego, CA, requiring on-site presence three days per week.

How you will make an impact

The Senior Manager, Project Management leads and manages the planning, development, and execution of complex projects to support organizational priorities. This role ensures alignment of project objectives with business strategies, drives cross-functional collaboration, and applies project management best practices to deliver high-quality results on time and within budget. The Senior Manager will oversee multiple projects concurrently and contribute to the continuous improvement of PMO standards and processes.

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to:

  • Lead the initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closing of projects using PMO best practices, driving adoption of efficiency tools and best practices across and outside the PMO.

  • Develop and maintain integrated project plans, timelines, and deliverables in Smartsheet or other PM tools, ensuring project scope, assumptions, and authorizations are documented and managed.

  • Identify risks, dependencies, and critical path activities; identify and develop mitigation strategies.

  • Provide clear and timely communication to stakeholders, including status reports and dashboards.

  • Partner with Finance to manage project budgets and monitor spend.

  • Support portfolio prioritization and contribute to strategic planning within the PMO.

  • Organize and lead project meetings, prepare agendas, and distribute meeting minutes.

  • Act as a liaison between functional teams and leadership to ensure alignment with organizational goals, facilitating decision-making and problem-solving across cross-functional teams.

  • Manage multiple projects and timelines concurrently.

  • Build strong relationships with internal and external collaborators.

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical, life sciences, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in project management, preferably in pharmaceutical, biotech, or related industries (An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered)
  • Experience in Medical Device and Pharmaceutical industry required with proven experience in clinical development, drug development, device operations, commercialization, or similar areas.
  • Experience in LEAN, Six Sigma and Operational Excellence preferred
  • PMP certification preferred.
  • Proficiency in project management software (Smartsheet, MS Project, etc.) and MS Office.
  • Ability to influence and manage in a matrixed environment.
  • Familiarity with GMP, FDA guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with budgeting and financial tracking for projects.

The most likely base pay range for this position is $139K - $194K per year. Several factors, such as experience, tenure, skills, and particular business needs, will determine an individual's exact level of compensation. Base salary is only one element of employee compensation at Halozyme. Total compensation could include bonuses, sales incentives, and equity awards.
