The Director of Data Analytics will be the driving force behind the credit union's evolution into a data-driven organization. This role combines strategic vision, technical expertise, and strong leadership to harness data in support of growth, expansion, and deepening member relationships. The director will oversee analytics, data governance, and systems integration and architecture, ensuring that data becomes a trusted organizational asset used to make informed, timely decisions.

This position will lead a team of business intelligence analysts to build a unified data environment, modernize tools and processes, and deliver actionable insights that help shape the credit union's direction and operational performance.

The duties and responsibilities of the Director of Data Analytics include, but are not limited to:

Strategic Data Leadership

  • Developing and executing a comprehensive data strategy aligned with credit union goals for growth and member engagement.
  • Leveraging AI, machine learning, and automation to improve operational efficiency and predictive capabilities.
  • Partnering with executives and other department leaders to identify and prioritize opportunities where data can drive measurable business outcomes.
  • Translating organizational strategy into data-driven initiatives and KPIs.
  • Possessing strong analytical skills with ability to deconstruct complex information into easily understandable components.
  • Thinking beyond traditional data models to identify innovative solutions, processes, and experiment with new methods to foster creativity and innovation.

Analytics & Insights Generation

  • Leading the development of advanced analytics, dashboards, and forecasting models to inform strategic and tactical decisions.
  • Providing insights that support product development, marketing optimization, lending performance, and member experience.
  • Communicating findings clearly to non-technical audiences and executive leadership.
  • Promoting data literacy and empowering departments to use analytics effectively in daily decision-making.

Technical Oversight and Data Integration

  • Overseeing all third-party data systems, tools, and vendors used by the analytics department.
  • Ensuring seamless integration of data across core systems (banking, CRM, lending, digital channels, etc.).
  • Partnering with IT and vendors to improve data accessibility and maintaining security compliance.
  • Assessing and recommending technology investments that enhance scalability and analytical capabilities.

Data Governance and Quality Management

  • Establishing and enforcing data governance frameworks to ensure data integrity, accuracy, and compliance with regulations.
  • Standardizing data definitions, processes, and ownership across systems.
  • Fostering a culture of accountability for data stewardship and ethical data use.
  • Developing and optimizing ETL/ELT pipelines using Python, SQL or cloud-native tools.

Development

  • Enhancing expertise by actively pursuing development opportunities, including but not limited to, attending conferences, acquiring certifications, completing learning courses in-house and other relevant platforms, or engaging in both internal and external leadership programs.
