Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce's client, a growing, up and coming engineering technology company located in Tustin, CA, is hiring a Senior Linux BSP Software Engineer to support the design and development of next generation medical devices. We are working directly with the hiring manager on this search. The client offers competitive base salary + annual bonus + equity (RSUs).
Duties Include:
* Design and develop Embedded Linux BSPs from requirements through deployment
* Perform initial board bring up and customize boards from scratch
* Customize and maintain Linux kernel, bootloader, and Yocto build systems
* Develop device drivers, applications, and validation utilities
* Support legacy/EOL hardware and resolve OS and kernel level issues
* Collaborate with hardware teams on new platform development
* Improve system performance, stability, security, and scalability
REQUIREMENTS:
* B.S. or higher in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field
* 3-12+ years of embedded software development in C (Mid-level to Senior candidates considered)
* Strong experience with Embedded Linux BSPs and board bring up
* Deep hands-on experience with Yocto/OpenEmbedded (required)
* Linux kernel and bootloader development experience
* Solid understanding of OS fundamentals, hardware I/O, and system level debugging
* Ability to read schematics and component datasheets
* Wi Fi/Bluetooth experience a plus
Proven ability to build and customize Yocto from scratch, including:
* Custom meta layers
* Machine configurations (.conf)
* Kernel and bootloader recipes
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
