As a Director of Software Engineering at JPMorganChase within Infrastructure Platforms, you will lead a team responsible for engineering and delivering secure Linux operating system platforms used across a global enterprise environment. You will combine deep technical expertise, people leadership, and stakeholder engagement to drive the design, automation, security, and operational excellence of enterprise-scale platform engineering capabilities. You will serve as a key decision maker for your technology domain, influencing engineering strategy, security posture, and platform reliability while delivering solutions that support critical business operations.
Job Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of engineers responsible for the design, development, deployment, and continuous improvement of enterprise Linux operating system platforms and services.
  • Establish technical direction and engineering standards for secure operating system image development, lifecycle management, and platform automation.
  • Drive the adoption of modern software engineering practices including CI/CD, infrastructure automation, testing, observability, and operational resilience.
  • Partner with cybersecurity, infrastructure, and application teams to implement secure-by-design platform capabilities and ensure alignment to enterprise security standards.
  • Own engineering roadmaps, delivery priorities, and platform modernization initiatives within your technology domain.
  • Lead the development of automated solutions for image creation, validation, release management, configuration management, and operational controls.
  • Evaluate and communicate the impact of operating system and security baseline changes across business applications, infrastructure services, and partner integrations.
  • Establish governance, controls, and measurable outcomes related to software quality, reliability, maintainability, and operational performance.
  • Drive software supply chain security practices including artifact integrity, automated validation, vulnerability management, traceability, and release governance.
  • Collaborate with senior technology and business stakeholders to influence strategy, prioritize investments, and deliver scalable platform solutions.
  • Develop and mentor engineering talent while fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years of applied experience.
  • Experience leading engineering teams responsible for designing, building, and supporting large-scale platform or infrastructure services.
  • Deep expertise in Linux and UNIX operating systems, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments.
  • Strong experience with software development lifecycle practices, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and release management.
  • Hands-on experience with scripting or programming languages such as Python, Go, Bash, or equivalent technologies.
  • Experience implementing and supporting enterprise security, platform hardening, and operational risk controls.
  • Knowledge of secure software development practices and software supply chain integrity principles.
  • Experience managing technology roadmaps, delivery priorities, and cross-functional engineering initiatives.
  • Proven ability to influence senior technology and business stakeholders and communicate complex technical topics to diverse audiences.
  • Experience hiring, developing, and mentoring engineering talent.
  • Practical cloud-native engineering experience.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • Experience engineering and managing enterprise operating system images and platform automation frameworks.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code, configuration management, and image lifecycle management solutions.
  • Familiarity with secure software supply chain practices including artifact signing, software bill of materials (SBOM), provenance validation, and policy-driven controls.
  • Experience operating within highly regulated environments with strong audit, compliance, and governance requirements.
  • Experience designing and supporting globally distributed technology platforms.
  • Knowledge of authentication, encryption, operating system security controls, identity integration, and compliance frameworks.
  • Participation in industry forums, open-source communities, or professional technology organizations related to Linux, platform engineering, or cybersecurity.
