Job description

At Forbes Advisor, our mission is to help readers turn their aspirations into reality. We arm people with trusted advice and guidance so they can make informed decisions they feel confident in and get back to doing the things they care about most.
We are an experienced team of industry experts dedicated to helping readers make smart decisions and choose the right products with ease. Forbes Advisor boasts decades of experience across dozens of geographies and teams, including Content, SEO, Business Intelligence, Finance, HR, Marketing, Production, Technology and Sales. The team brings rich industry knowledge to Forbes Advisor's global coverage of consumer credit, debt, health, home improvement, banking, investing, credit cards, small business, education, insurance, loans, real estate and travel.
Forbes Advisor is hiring a Senior Manager, Post Production to build and lead the team that edits and delivers our paid social and native ads. The team is made up of Editors, who shape the story, pacing, and feel of every ad, and post specialists who assist with ingestion, color correction, and organization/DAM.
The role reports to the Head of Creative Production and works closely with our Creative Directors, who set the creative direction. You are an excellent editor yourself, with a sharp eye for what makes a cut work. You hire and develop Editors, set the bar for their work, give clear and useful notes that make each cut better, and help them reach a strong finish faster. On the highest-priority work, you step in and edit yourself to set the standard.
You will also hire and manage the small team of post specialists who prep the media for the editors. Leading them well takes real command of post workflow and systems: you own how footage moves from shoot to editor, set the standards that keep color consistent and the media library clean and easy to search, and keep improving how the pipeline works, from the tools to the structure to the process, so it stays reliable and fast as volume grows. When the process slows your editors down, you are the one who fixes it.
The successful candidate is a strong editor who has managed editors before. You know good work when you see it, you can say exactly why a cut is or is not working, and you have hired and led a team, though it does not need to have been a large one. You also know the post side well, including how footage gets ingested, color-corrected, and organized, so you can lead the specialists who run it and keep the pipeline sharp.
We are a human-led shop that uses AI to work faster without lowering the bar. You are comfortable with AI editing tools and clear on where they help a cut and where they get in the way. AI fluency is a baseline expectation, not a bonus.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Hire, lead, and develop your team, both the Editors who cut and deliver the ads and the small team of post specialists who prep the media for them, and build a bench of freelancers for busy periods.
  • Own the quality of every ad the team ships. Set a clear, high bar and hold it.
  • Give clear, useful feedback that makes your editors better and brings each cut to a finished, high-quality state.
  • Know a strong cut from a weak one, and help your team get there faster.
  • Oversee the editing and delivery of footage from all three of our content sources (in-person shoots, remote UGC, and AI-generated video) so the final ads feel polished and consistent.
  • Own and improve the media pipeline: how footage gets ingested, color-corrected, and organized, so editors can always find what they need and move fast.
  • Occasionally edit the highest-priority ads yourself, to set the standard for the team and stay close to the craft.
  • Keep the team producing at the pace performance marketing demands: a high volume of ads and variations every week, without the quality slipping.
  • Manage the team's workload and priorities so the right work reaches the right person and deadlines are met.
  • Partner with the Head of Creative Production and the Creative Directors on hiring and on raising the craft bar as the team grows.
  • Make sure finished ads meet the required legal and brand guidelines before they go live.

REQUIREMENTS
  • A strong portfolio of short-form video editing for paid social, direct-response, or performance content. We want to see the actual work.
  • 2 to 3+ years managing editors: hiring, leading, and developing a team. It does not need to have been a large one.
  • A great eye. You can watch a cut and know what is working, what is not, and how to fix it, then explain it clearly to the editor who made it.
  • A track record of hiring and developing good editors, and a real point of view on how to spot editing talent.
  • Excellent editing craft of your own: strong instincts for story, pacing, and finish in a professional editing tool (Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or similar).
  • A solid command of post-production workflow and media systems (ingest, color, and asset/DAM organization), enough to lead the specialists who run it and keep improving how the pipeline works.
  • A clear sense of what makes a paid social ad work: a strong hook, tight pacing, clean captions, and a native feel for each platform.
  • Comfort with AI editing tools and a point of view on where they help and where they do not.
  • Comfort working at high volume and pace, shipping many ads and variations a week without dropping the bar.
  • A clear communicator who works well with creative, production, and media-buying teams.
  • A self-starter who is comfortable in a fast, start-up style environment.

STRONG PLUSES
  • Editing work with clear performance results behind it.
  • Motion graphics or light design skills (After Effects or similar).
  • Experience managing freelance or contract editors, not only full-time staff.
  • Experience finishing AI-generated footage to a high, real-ad standard.
  • Familiarity with current AI editing tools and asset-management (DAM) systems.
  • Comfort reading performance dashboards to inform editing decisions.
