Job description

We are seeking a strategic and hands‑on Senior Buyer to lead sourcing, purchasing, and end‑to‑end supply chain operations. This role is critical in ensuring cost‑effective procurement, supplier performance, and uninterrupted flow of materials while supporting operational excellence and business growth.

The ideal candidate brings a strong blend of analytical thinking, supplier relationship management, and cross‑functional collaboration to drive efficiency, mitigate risk, and deliver measurable value.

The Senior Buyer, will manage the purchase schedules of production related materials and inventory control functions. Provides support to production scheduling on all material flow issues to meet production schedules and customer requirements. Interfaces with Manufacturing Managers and Production Supervisors on the planning and forecasting of customer orders to meet shipments. Responsible for working with Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Production Control and Purchasing to resolve any problems related to all raw material schedules daily. Effectively communicate between departments or personnel for prompt problem resolution.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Review MRP weekly and follow up to ensure delivery schedules are being received and satisfied to the demand provided. When applicable, work with the supply base to develop on timely recovery plans to maintain production.
  • Coordinate material release schedules to ensure ongoing production. Including: scheduling, issuance of purchase orders and transportation for all outside processing.
  • Provide part maintenance for existing jobs. Also issue amp; maintain purchase orders as required for all production related materials amp; services.
  • Effectively communicate information (positive or negative) to the Purchasing Manager and Operations Manager in a timely manner for problem solving and/or continuous improvement.
  • Monitor supplier delivery performance and act appropriately with Purchasing to ensure 100% on time compliance.
  • Order and track all returnable production dunnage, ensuring it is available for manufacturing.
  • Support Compliance with Skyway Precision, Inc.’s Quality policies and procedures (TS16949 amp; ISO 14001).
  • Follow general safety rules, procedures and regulations.
  • Maintain cleanliness, good housekeeping, of his/her assigned areas and hold employees accountable for these tasks.
  • Perform special assignments as delegated.
EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • 3-5 years experience in Inventory Management and Logistics Management
  • 3-5 years experience in a Shipping amp; Receiving Field
  • Experience with PLEX preferred
  • Experience with castings preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree or relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through three or more years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of key purchasing and negotiating methods, principles and concepts and general business operations.
  • General knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements related to procurement.
  • Ability to use standard business application software and specialized purchasing and/or materials systems ERP (Plex a plus)
  • Ability to negotiate effectively to obtain the best price and terms.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
