Job description

Xcite Automotive is seeking an Automotive Detail Assistant Manager for our dealership partners in Highland, MI!

Job Description:  This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience in automotive detailing, car wash operations, fleet washing, dealership operations, vehicle reconditioning, recon production, or detail shop leadership. The Automotive Detail Assistant Manager will help oversee day-to-day workflow, support detail technicians, maintain quality standards, and assist with hands-on interior and exterior vehicle detailing as needed.

This is a hands-on leadership position, not a desk-only management role. The right candidate should be comfortable leading a team, managing vehicle flow, supporting production goals, performing quality control inspections, and helping ensure dealership inventory is cleaned, detailed, and retail-ready.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Support daily automotive detail shop operations in a dealership environment
  • Assist with vehicle workflow, team assignments, and production priorities
  • Lead, train, and support detailers, car wash attendants, porters, and recon team members
  • Perform hands-on interior and exterior detailing as needed
  • Assist with washing, vacuuming, shampooing, buffing, polishing, waxing, and final touch-ups
  • Complete quality control checks to ensure vehicles are clean, detailed, and dealership-ready
  • Help monitor turnaround time, productivity, and vehicle completion status
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
  • Communicate shop updates, delays, staffing needs, and quality concerns to management

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of hands-on automotive detailing, car wash, fleet, dealership, or reconditioning experience
  • Previous experience as a Lead Detailer, Senior Detailer, Car Wash Lead, Shop Supervisor, Assistant Manager, or Recon Lead preferred
  • Knowledge of interior and exterior detailing, including washing, vacuuming, shampooing, buffing, polishing, waxing, and final touch-ups
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, production-driven automotive environment
  • Ability to support vehicle workflow, production priorities, and quality standards
  • Comfortable performing hands-on detail work while helping lead and support a team
  • Ability to stand, bend, lift, and work indoors or outdoors throughout the day
  • Valid driver’s license required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a dealership detail shop, reconditioning center, car wash, fleet operation, service department, body shop, or collision center
  • Previous experience as a Lead Detailer, Senior Detailer, Assistant Manager, Shop Supervisor, Car Wash Lead, or Recon Lead
  • Experience supporting daily workflow, production priorities, vehicle turnaround time, and quality standards
  • Experience training or supporting detail technicians, car wash attendants, porters, or recon team members
  • Knowledge of interior and exterior detailing, including washing, vacuuming, shampooing, extraction, buffing, polishing, waxing, and final touch-ups
  • Strong attention to quality control and dealership-ready vehicle presentation
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on, production-driven automotive environment
