Job description

Description:Position Summary

The Director of Depot and Distribution Services leads all operations of Essintial's national depot facility in Camp Hill, PA, serving as the single hub of receiving, inventory control, configuration, and outbound distribution supporting IT field service programs for retail, restaurant, and enterprise clients nationwide. This role owns the end-to-end lifecycle of client equipment and spare parts — from inbound receipt through staging, kitting, configuration, repair/refurbishment, and final shipment to field technicians or client sites — while ensuring inventory accuracy, on-time performance, and audit-ready controls across a high-volume, multi-client environment.

The Director will also support the buildout and ongoing operations of security-sensitive functions co-located at the facility, including secure device handling and configuration workflows aligned to PCI and client security requirements, and will partner closely with IT, Sales, Program Management, and Finance to scale depot capacity in line with growing client programs.

Key Responsibilities

Distribution Center Leadership

• Own full P&L-adjacent accountability for depot operations, including shipping, receiving, inventory control, configuration/staging, and reverse logistics for a nationwide IT field services organization.

• Set and drive daily, weekly, and monthly operating rhythms across receiving docks, put-away, pick/pack, kitting, configuration benches, and outbound shipping to meet client SLAs.

• Develop and manage staffing plans, shift structures, and cross-training programs to flex capacity with seasonal and program-driven volume swings.

Inventory Control & Accuracy

• Maintain inventory accuracy across serialized and non-serialized assets (spare parts, replacement units, client-owned equipment) through cycle counting, reconciliation, and root-cause corrective action programs.

• Own inventory system of record integrity in partnership with IT, ensuring systems accurately reflect on-hand quantities, asset status, and location.

• Implement and enforce controls for asset receipt, chain-of-custody, and disposition (including compliant destruction/recycling of decommissioned hardware).

Configuration Center Operations

• Direct the configuration center's imaging, provisioning, kitting, and quality-check processes for client-bound hardware (routers, switches, POS/back-office equipment, and related field devices).

• Ensure configuration workflows meet client technical specifications and, where applicable, PCI and other security/compliance requirements for secure device handling.

Shipping, Receiving & Logistics

• Oversee inbound/outbound freight, carrier relationships, and shipment tracking to ensure on-time delivery to field technicians and client sites nationwide.

• Optimize dock scheduling, dunnage/packaging standards, and warehouse layout to support throughput and damage-free handling.

• Monitor and report on carrier performance, freight spend, and delivery exceptions; drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Cross-Functional & Compliance Leadership

• Serve as the primary depot stakeholder for internal audits, client business reviews, and compliance assessments (e.g., PCI-related device handling reviews).

• Partner with Finance on inventory valuation, cycle-count reconciliation, and cost/spend reporting for depot operations.

• Collaborate with Sales and Program Management to scope depot/logistics requirements for new client programs and site rollouts.

• Lead safety, security, and physical access control programs for the facility, including badge/visitor controls appropriate to a facility handling client-owned and security-sensitive equipment.

#EES25

Requirements:Required Work Experience

• 8+ years of progressive experience in distribution center, warehouse, or depot operations management, including 4+ years in a senior leadership role (Director-level or equivalent scope).

• Demonstrated experience managing a facility supporting a nationwide or multi-site field services, retail deployment, or IT asset lifecycle operation.

• Experience managing inventory control programs for serialized/high-value electronic equipment, including cycle counting, shrink management, and reconciliation.

• Experience overseeing a configuration, staging, or kitting operation (device imaging, provisioning, or technical staging) is strongly preferred.

• Track record of managing hourly/shift-based warehouse workforces, including hiring, scheduling, and performance management.

• Experience supporting or participating in compliance audits (PCI, SOC 2, ISO, or similar) involving physical security and asset handling controls is a plus.

• P&L or budget ownership experience for a distribution/logistics cost center.

Technical Knowledge Requirements

• Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and/or inventory modules within CRM/ERP platforms expertise.

• Working knowledge of IT hardware relevant to retail/field service environments (network equipment such as routers, switches, and firewalls; POS and back-office systems).

• Familiarity with device imaging/provisioning tools and configuration workflows for network and point-of-sale hardware.

• Understanding of physical and data security requirements for handling client-owned and payment-related devices, including PCI P2PE or PCI PIN Security concepts (e.g., chain-of-custody, tamper-evidence, secure storage).

• Knowledge of compliant hardware disposition practices, including data sanitization/destruction standards (e.g., NIST SP 800-88) for decommissioned equipment.

• Proficiency with shipping/carrier management platforms, freight audit tools, and shipment tracking/visibility systems.

• Strong Excel/data analysis skills for inventory reporting, reconciliation, and KPI dashboards; experience with Power BI, Power Query, or similar reporting tools a plus.

• Understanding of Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies as applied to distribution/warehouse operations.

Education

• APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM, CSCP) or Lean/Six Sigma certification a plus.

Key Attributes

• Data-driven decision-maker comfortable owning KPIs for accuracy, throughput, on-time performance, and cost.
