The Senior Staff Accountant facilitates sales accounting, performs advanced receivable accounting responsibilities supporting receivable and operational accounting functions. This position is responsible for complex reconciliations, account analysis, journal entries, and month-end close activities while serving as a technical resource within the accounting department.


Essential Functions:

  • Facilitate sales accounting processes.
  • Prepare complex account reconciliations and supporting documentation. 
  • Analyze customer account activity and resolve accounting discrepancies. 
  • Prepare journal entries and supporting schedules. 
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities. 
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and documentation. 
  • Assist with payment processing and customer receivable accounting activities. 
  • Prepare reports and analysis for management. 
  • Support internal and external audits. 
  • Recommend process improvements to improve efficiency and accuracy. 
  • Provide guidance and support to the accounting team members. 
  • Participate in departmental and cross-functional projects. 

Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required. 
  • Two or more years of progressive accounting experience. 
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles. 
  • Experience with receivable or payment operations preferred. 
  • Strong reconciliation and analytical skills. 
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and ERP experience. 
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Additional Information:

This is a hybrid position, based in our Herndon VA office, three days a week, with two days remote.
