We design, manufacture, and market conventional and trunked radio systems, land mobile radio repeaters, and mobile and portable radios, including Project 25 digital radio products.

As a Senior Prototyping and Integration Engineer, you’ll operate alongside, but outside, the standard product development cycle to rapidly create prototypes, proofs of concept, and innovative solutions that address high urgency or high risk needs. You’ll guide projects from early exploration through successful handoff into traditional workflows, blending technical engineering with project leadership. This role works across hardware and software integration, engages directly with vendors and contractors, and produces clear internal and external documentation that supports both engineering and market positioning. Success requires strong communication across all levels of the organization, the ability to navigate existing workflows without unnecessary disruption, and the maturity to build trust while driving change.

Ideal candidates bring a background in systems integration or product development, with deep knowledge of two-way radio technologies, including P25 and DMR systems, along with system administration experience, basic networking skills, and a history of working directly with Public Safety customers to design and implement complex solutions. You’ll frequently lead small, cross functional teams to research needs, define requirements, design and engineer solutions, and evaluate results. Experience with both hardware and software development is important, as is the ability to cultivate long term vendor relationships and creatively repurpose or adopt new technologies to meet evolving demands in the LMR industry. This role is hybrid, out of our Irving, TX location.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and assemble radio and computer systems including basic IP network and application software.
  • Support, program, and configure two-way radio system components, repeaters, receive multi-couplers, combiners, antenna systems, power systems, and dispatch equipment for P25, DMR and Analog LMR systems.
  • Effectively resolve system and subscriber issues.
  • Breadboard, prototype, modify, cable, test and document standard or special interfaces.
  • Collaborate with third parties and internal departments to troubleshoot integration issues, determine root causes, resolve issues, and better future products.
  • Proactively develop potential partners prior to the need for their specific skills.
  • Evaluate competitive products for planning, design engineering and sales/marketing information purposes.
  • Perform project-planning activities such as time estimation, resource requirements, scheduling, and reporting.
  • Identify missing skillsets and leverage internal and outside resources creatively to address project needs
  • Source and purchase equipment, supplies, and parts.
  • Write instruction sheets, manuals, and application notes, marketing material, tuning and service procedures.
  • Support and train internal and external entities in the use and support of solutions developed.
  • May coordinate daily activities on assigned projects for a small team.
  • Potential to supervise team members to include objectives and performance reviews.
  • Work across the boundaries of several affiliated companies with loosely shared management structures through teamwork and persuasion rather than management mandate.
  • Exhibit desirable and appropriate professional behavior including leadership, sense of urgency, independent judgment, teamwork, ability to get along with others, creative thinking and personal integrity.
  • Agree to abide by the established Approval Matrix.
  • Additional duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or applicable experience.
  • Advanced Knowledge of land mobile radio system configurations.
  • Intermediate level of knowledge of development tools, test equipment and documentation procedures.
  • Ten or more years of applicable experience.

What We’re Looking For

  • Understanding of two-way radio systems—specifically P25 and DMR—and supporting technologies, with a commitment to continual learning.
  • Skilled at solving complex interfacing problems and anticipating product interactions under various RF, environmental, operational, and usage conditions.
  • Able to read and interpret electronic circuit diagrams, flow charts, and schematics.
  • Able to recognize and resolve issues related to parts, technical support, ongoing maintenance, mass production, practicality, reliability, and durability of developed interfaces, modifications, and evaluated products.
  • Effective at developing and maintaining working relationships with company personnel.

  • Experienced in performing technical analysis and in reporting, documenting, and writing technical procedures, bulletins, instruction sheets, manuals, and application notes.

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 15% travel to customer sites, vendor and supplier sites, and tradeshows as necessary.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary
  • Health, dental, and vision benefits
  • Additional supplemental benefits
  • 401K + employer match
  • Tuition reimbursement
  • 12 paid holidays + additional PTO
  • Supportive- team-driven environment
