The Senior Project Manager leads complex surveying and mapping projects, overseeing field and office operations to ensure accurate, timely, and high-quality deliverables. This role manages multiple survey crews, coordinates geospatial data workflows, and ensures compliance with applicable standards and regulations.

Key ResponsibilitiesSurvey Project Management
  • Manage all aspects of surveying and mapping projects, including boundary, topographic, construction, and as-built surveys.
  • Develop and oversee project scopes, schedules, and budgets specific to survey operations.
  • Coordinate field crews and office staff to ensure efficient data collection and processing.
  • Ensure deliverables meet accuracy standards and client requirements
Field & Geospatial Operations
  • Oversee field data collection using GPS/GNSS, total stations, LiDAR, and drone/UAS technologies.
  • Ensure proper execution of field procedures, including control establishment and QA/QC checks.
  • Guide data processing workflows including:
    • CAD drafting
    • Surface modeling
    • GIS integration
  • Validate field data against design plans and project requirements.
Quality Control & Compliance
  • Ensure all work complies with state surveying regulations, standards of practice, and licensing requirements.
  • Implement and oversee QA/QC processes for survey data and mapping deliverables.
  • Review plats, legal descriptions, and survey reports for accuracy and completeness.
Client & Stakeholder Coordination
  • Serve as the primary contact for clients on survey-related scopes.
  • Coordinate with engineers, construction teams, and project managers to align survey efforts with project needs.
  • Communicate project progress, risks, and technical considerations clearly.
Financial & Resource Management
  • Manage project budgets, staffing, and utilization of survey crews.
  • Track project performance, including schedule adherence and profitability.
  • Optimize workflows to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

Business Developmt

  • Identify opportunities for additional survey services on existing projects.
  • Support proposals and scope development for surveying and mapping work.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients and industry partners.
Team Leadership & Development
  • Mentor survey staff, including crew chiefs, technicians, and junior PMs.
  • Provide technical guidance on complex survey challenges.
  • Support recruitment and retention of top surveying talent.

  • Education and/or Skills Required:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in related field (AEC Industry) and minimum of 6 years of related professional experience, or 10 years of equivalent
    professional experience.
    • Experience should include a track record of expanding project management duties.
    • Proven experience in project management roles, with a focus on managing larger-scale projects or programs.
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
    • Proficiency in project management software and tools, with the ability to develop and maintain comprehensive project plans and
    documentation.
    • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices related to project management, quality assurance, and safety protocols.
    • Effective problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and implement solutions in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong negotiation skills to manage contracts, scope changes, and stakeholder agreements effectively.
    • Strong understanding of accounting principles to effectively manage project budgets, financial reporting, and resource allocation.


Education and/or Work Experience Preferred:
• Master’s Degree in related field (AEC Industry)


Certificates, Licenses, and/or Registrations Required:
• Ability to complete the KCI PM Training and Contract Risk Training along with passing the PM Board within 6 months of start date.
