Westside Family Healthcare is a nonprofit organization that provides high quality primary medical care without regard to ability to pay. The Health Information Management (HIM) Analyst manages and indexes all patient medical documents scanned into the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system by the HIM Specialists I and II and assists the Senior HIM Analyst with processing incoming faxes via the EMR fax queue, reconciling incoming interface lab, procedure, and transcription results.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Protect the security of medical records to ensure that confidentiality is maintained in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  2. Evaluate and processes incoming EMR faxes, assigning documents and patient medical records to appropriate provider for review or other corresponding staff/departments for further processing.
  3. Index all scanned documents with the appropriate EMR file type, title and destination.
  4. Assist in maintaining a standardized document filing system by keeping the File Type Resource document updated.
  5. Educate and help WFH staff navigate through the Scanned Documents portion of the EMR.
  6. Maintain current knowledge of the EMR Input Manager Module by accessing Allscripts resources such as Client Connect, webinars, etc. and providing expertise to the HIM Department.
  7. Assist with troubleshooting and resolution of intermediately complex problems associated with the Scanned Documents queue Input Manager Module of the EMR.
  8. Assist Senior HIM Analyst with reconciling interface procedure and labs results that fall into the Input Manager Patient and Caregiver Matching queue.
  9. Retrieve Newborn Screening HMD reports from Lab Portal (currently Perkin Elmer), send results to appropriate provider for review, and maintain HMD tracking spreadsheet.
  10. Actively participate in further developing and implementing capabilities of receiving, reviewing, and sending PHI electronically in a safe and secure manner.
  11. Assist HIM Supervisor with management and tasking of Release of Information (ROI) requests to third party contractor (currently DataFile Technology).
  12. Participate in quality improvement and risk management processes and projects.
  13. Assist in development of policies and procedures as they pertain to managing and filing patient medical information.

Requirements
MINIMUM OBJECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS
  1. High school diploma or GED
  2. Previous experience using Microsoft Office Suite
  3. Two years of experience working in a Medical Records and/or Health Information-related department, using healthcare medical terminology and EMR software
  4. Two years of experience scanning and indexing patient medical records into an EMR system
  5. Strong knowledge of the HIPAA Privacy Rule
