Job description

Contributes to the Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) system mission by implementing changes and updates to the PACS and Imaging Informatics systems and by supporting imaging informatics needs. This technical systems position will have an impact on physician, patient, and staff satisfaction by minimizing system downtime and maximizing system efficiency. This role will be the primary Radiology Informatics resource for local Hospitals but serve in that role as a member of the broader BILH Radiology Informatics team, supporting the BILH system-level applications as well as local applications.

Job Description:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Under the general guidance of CHIO and Radiology Informatics leadership, maintains the PACS (Picture Archive Communication System), keeps the system operating at maximum efficiency, applies upgrades, tests for problems, and troubleshoots.  
  • Maintain the Radiology Information System by monitoring the interface work queue, running reports, addressing patient information issues between IT and other radiology systems, assisting modality technologists with workflow, and interacting with the Radiant team.
  • Supports a voice recognition dictation system, which includes managing radiologist templates and creation of macros
  • Tests upgrades, patches, and new implementations with vendors. Creates test plans for submission to system-wide change control.
  • Orients and trains staff as necessary for department and role specific use of information systems like RIS, PACS, and voice.
  • Recommends and implements changes to maximize system efficiency, maintains documentation, and enhances the maximization, maintenance documentation, training, and enhancement of the Radiology Information System (RIS) and other information systems utilized in the department. Trains staff.
  • Collaborates with PACs Systems Coordinator and the IS department to maximize workflow improvement and ensure compliance with established protocols and accreditation standards.
  • Act as the primary Radiology Informatics support for the local Hospital (including assisting local users with problem resolution, training, advice, direction, and explanation/demonstration of appropriate techniques and methods), as well as participating in the broader activities of the BILH Radiology Informatics team responsibilities.
  • Diagnoses and resolves problems related to radiology informatics supported systems as needed. Escalates and/or communicates with Radiology Informatics leadership as needed.
  • At the direction of Radiology Informatics leadership, advises, updates, and notifies local Radiology management and staff of computer information, changes, and downtime.
  • Maintains necessary records and documentation of software compliance and accuracy.
  • Provides proper documentation of upgrades and communicates the changes to necessary end users.
  • Creates and runs clinical reports for Radiology Services as requested.
  • Develops, communicates, and implements local radiology information policies and procedures to support Radiology functions.
  • Reviews and updates local computer procedure manuals to meet accreditation requirements.
  • Works with BILH Revenue Cycle and Radiology Informatics leadership in maintaining compliance and ensuring appropriate coding and billing.
  • Maintains knowledge of new technology or procedures in the department by reading appropriate literature and/or attending seminars and lectures.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree preferred

Licensure, Certification & Registration:

Experience:

  • At least 3 years of experience in a clinical position in the medical field and at least 2 years of Radiology Information Systems (IS) experience.
  • A related IS degree may be considered in lieu of the IS experience.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

  • Knowledge of Epic Radiant, multiple PACS systems/vendors, MModal voice recognition or similar systems

Pay Range:

$95,000.00 USD - $130,000.00 USD

The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
