Job Description:
Job Title: Senior Graphic Designer
Department: RedMedia/Marketing
FLSA: Exempt
Revision Date: 09/2026
About Hy-Vee
At Hy-Vee, we believe the shortest distance between two people is a smile. We're seeking professionals who bring proven skills, a desire to grow, and a commitment to work together in building a company that strives to make our customers' lives easier, healthier and happier.
The Role and Why It's Important
The Senior Graphic Designer, RedMedia shapes the creative that advertiser and CPG partners see across Hy-Vee's onsite, in-store, offsite, and digital retail media channels, directly influencing how those campaigns perform and how advertisers experience the RedMedia platform. Day to day, this means conceptualizing campaign creative, reviewing assets against retailer and placement specifications before launch, building templates and standards that keep quality consistent across a growing roster of brands, and partnering with sales, account management, and creative teams to turn campaign strategy into work that's ready for market. If you enjoy balancing strong design instincts with the discipline of hitting retail specs and deadlines across many advertisers at once, this role is for you.
What You'll Do
  • Conceptualize and design compelling, on-brand creative for advertiser campaigns and RedMedia marketing initiatives across a range of formats, including onsite, in-store, and offsite advertising, websites and landing pages, presentations, sales and marketing collateral, email, point-of-sale, environmental graphics, and other emerging formats.
  • Design across a diverse roster of advertiser and CPG brands, adapting to individual brand guidelines while maintaining the quality and consistency of the RedMedia platform and meeting the requirements of the Hy-Vee retail environment.
  • Review and adjust creative assets against retailer, channel, and placement specifications prior to launch to ensure accuracy, quality, and campaign readiness.
  • Identify and resolve creative or production issues before assets enter market, helping reduce rejected units, production delays, and external agency rework.
  • Establish, document, maintain, and consistently apply creative guidelines, templates, specifications, and best practices across onsite, in-store, and offsite RedMedia placements.
  • Serve as a creative steward for RedMedia, helping ensure advertiser assets meet established visual, technical, accessibility, and brand standards.
  • Partner closely with RedMedia sales, account management, media, marketing, operations, and other cross-functional teams to translate advertiser objectives and campaign strategies into effective creative solutions.
  • Develop polished presentations, sales materials, case studies, one-sheets, and other RedMedia collateral that clearly communicate capabilities, campaign opportunities, performance stories, and the RedMedia brand to internal and external audiences.
  • Collaborate directly with internal stakeholders, advertiser partners, agencies, and vendors to understand creative needs, communicate requirements, and provide clear, actionable creative feedback.
  • Provide senior-level creative guidance, art direction, and constructive feedback to designers and external creative partners while helping elevate the overall quality and consistency of RedMedia creative.
  • Manage multiple advertiser campaigns, creative requests, formats, and deadlines simultaneously while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Edit, manipulate, retouch, and color correct imagery as needed for campaign execution.
  • Support photography, video, motion, and other content development when required, including providing creative direction to internal and external production partners.
  • Develop scalable templates and design systems that improve creative consistency, efficiency, and speed to market across recurring retail media programs.
  • Maintain organized creative files, campaign assets, templates, and related documentation using established asset and project management systems.
  • Stay current on retail media, advertising, design, digital platform, accessibility, and emerging technology trends and recommend opportunities to improve RedMedia's creative capabilities.
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant design applications, digital advertising requirements, production processes, and technical specifications.
  • Report to work on time and work the expected number of hours.
  • Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required.

Your Skills
  • Commitment to the Hy-Vee Mission and a willingness to promote the values of the company.
  • Strong understanding of graphic design principles, typography, composition, color, visual hierarchy, branding, and digital design.
  • Strong understanding of how creative translates across digital, physical, onsite, in-store, and offsite advertising environments.
  • Ability to interpret and apply multiple advertiser brand guidelines while maintaining retailer and placement requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify creative, technical, and specification issues before campaign launch.
  • Ability to translate campaign objectives, media strategies, and business needs into effective visual communications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate creative decisions and provide constructive, actionable feedback.
  • Comfortable using AI tools to support copy development for creative and marketing materials.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with the ability to build productive relationships with internal teams, advertisers, agencies, vendors, and other external partners.
  • Ability to identify problems, develop solutions, and exercise sound creative judgment independently.
  • Strong organizational and project-management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple campaigns, projects, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to receive feedback, adapt quickly, and work collaboratively through multiple rounds of creative development.
  • Ability to provide creative guidance and mentorship to other designers without requiring formal people-management responsibility.
  • High degree of professionalism, accountability, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
