Position Summary
Join the STERIS Digital Workflow Solutions team as a Senior Frontend Software Engineer. In this role you will be responsible for establishing long-term ownership of the user experience, client-side architecture, and presentation layer of the SPM Cloud platform. You will initially focus on learning the existing solution, supporting production readiness activities, and partnering with implementation teams to understand design patterns, accessibility requirements, and user workflows.
Over time you will take responsibility for frontend engineering, user interface modernization, feature development, user experience improvements, and the ongoing evolution of the platform's customer-facing capabilities. SPM Workflow Solution and Surgical Asset Tracking Software | STERIS

What You'll Do as a Sr. Frontend Software Engineer
  • Design, develop, maintain, and enhance web-based user interfaces and frontend application components.
  • Develop expertise in application workflows, user interactions, accessibility standards, and frontend architecture.
  • Participate in embedded delivery activities to facilitate knowledge transfer and technical ownership.
  • Support production operations through troubleshooting, defect investigation, and issue resolution.
  • Contribute to new feature development, user experience improvements, and product enhancements.
  • Ensure frontend solutions meet performance, accessibility, usability, and security standards.
  • Collaborate with backend engineers, architects, testers, and product stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Perform code reviews and contribute to frontend development standards and best practices.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and support knowledge repositories.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to user experience, application performance, and maintainability.

The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed
Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related degree
  • 8+ years of professional frontend software development experience developing commercial software that is customer facing.
  • 8+ years experience with REACT, Javascript, CSS3, HTML 5, Typescript etc.
  • Proven experience building, maintaining, and enhancing complex business-critical web and SAAS applications.
  • Experience working within Agile software development teams and collaborating closely with product owners, architects, backend engineers, UX specialists, and quality engineers.
  • Experience supporting applications through the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, deployment, support, and enhancement.
  • Experience troubleshooting production issues and supporting business-critical applications in live environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently own features, components, or application domains from design through delivery.
  • Experience participating in code reviews, technical design discussions, and engineering improvement initiatives.
  • Experience working in distributed teams and collaborating across multiple technical disciplines.
  • Experience contributing to modernization initiatives, application migrations, or large-scale application transformations.

Preferred:
  • Experience working within regulated, healthcare, medical device, financial services, or compliance-driven environments preferred.
  • Experience developing an asset tracking management software.
  • Exposure to AI-assisted development tools and modern engineering productivity practices.

Other:
  • Strong understanding of modern JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and responsive web development.
  • Experience building and maintaining enterprise-scale single-page applications.
  • Experience developing reusable UI components and shared design systems.
  • Experience consuming and integrating RESTful APIs and backend services.
  • Experience implementing accessibility standards and best practices (WCAG).
  • Experience with frontend testing frameworks and automated testing approaches.
  • Experience using Git-based source control and collaborative development workflows.
  • Understanding of application security principles, authentication, authorization, and secure frontend development practices.
  • Experience analyzing and resolving browser compatibility, performance, and usability issues.
  • Ability to interpret business requirements and translate them into maintainable technical solutions.
  • Experience working within Agile software delivery methodologies.
  • Experience participating in sprint planning, estimation, backlog refinement, and technical design activities.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering best practices including code reviews, refactoring, and maintainable design.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining automated testing as part of the delivery process.
  • Experience working within CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment environments.
  • Familiarity with feature branching, pull request workflows, and peer review processes.
  • Ability to create and maintain technical documentation and support knowledge repositories.
  • Experience participating in production support, defect triage, and root cause analysis activities.

Pay range for this opportunity is $107,525.00 - $126,000. This position is eligible for bonus participation.
Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
