Job description

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Shop Foreman with a proven background in power generation, generators, and diesel/natural gas engines.

This is NOT a general manufacturing or general maintenance position. The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, rebuilding, testing, and commissioning generators and engines.

This is a working foreman position. The Shop Foreman will lead technicians while remaining hands-on with complex mechanical, electrical, engine, and generator-related repairs.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair diesel and natural gas generators
  • Perform hands-on repairs, inspections, rebuilds, testing, and commissioning
  • Troubleshoot diesel and natural gas engines
  • Diagnose and repair generator mechanical and electrical systems
  • Troubleshoot generator controls and control systems
  • Perform and oversee load bank testing
  • Identify and resolve complex engine and generator problems
  • Train, mentor, and provide technical guidance to technicians
  • Coordinate daily shop workflow and prioritize repairs
  • Inspect completed work to ensure quality and safety standards
  • Complete work orders, service reports, and required documentation
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and productive shop environment
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates MUST have direct, hands-on generator/engine experience.

  • 10+ years of power generation, generator service, or engine-related experience
  • Proven hands-on experience working with industrial generators
  • Strong diesel engine experience
  • Natural gas engine experience
  • Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting generator controls
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Experience performing generator testing, commissioning, and load bank testing
  • Experience with manufacturers such as:
    • Caterpillar
    • Cummins
    • Kohler
    • MTU
    • Detroit Diesel
    • MQ
    • Similar industrial generator/engine equipment
  • Previous experience as a Shop Foreman, Foreman, Lead Technician, Senior Generator Technician, or equivalent
  • Ability to lead technicians while remaining hands-on in the shop
