Job description

Job Description Summary
This is a hands-on technical role supporting the testing, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of complex electronic and electro-mechanical avionics hardware in a production and MRO environment. The position focuses on bench-level execution, using established procedures and technical documentation-not engineering design or software development.
This role is ideal for experienced electronics or avionics technicians who enjoy working directly with hardware, supporting production flow, and solving complex technical issues on the shop floor.
Job Description
At GE Aerospace, we believe the world works better when it flies. As part of our Clearwater team, you will support advanced avionics systems used on commercial and military aircraft, including the Boeing 737/787 and platforms such as the F-18, F-35, Harrier, and Apache.
You'll work in a climate-controlled, OSHA VPP Star-certified facility alongside skilled technicians, manufacturing engineers, and test engineers to keep production and repair operations running safely, efficiently, and at the highest quality standards.
This is a technician career path role, offering long-term growth opportunities within operations, technical leadership, and training.
Essential Responsibilities
As a Senior Electronics / Avionics Technician, you will:
  • Perform hands-on setup, testing, troubleshooting, repair, and overhaul of complex electronic and electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Execute testing using established procedures, schematics, and technical documentation, including Engineering, Manufacturing, and Component Maintenance Manuals.
  • Conduct functional, vibration, and thermal cycle testing (based on assignment).
  • Troubleshoot equipment at the component and system level using schematics and diagnostic tools.
  • Test, calibrate, adjust, and maintain measuring and indicating instruments to defined standards.
  • Monitor process performance and product quality, responding quickly to production or repair issues.
  • Adjust approved process parameters (within engineering guidelines) to maintain quality and prevent downtime.
  • Partner with Manufacturing and Test Engineers to communicate observed issues, trends, and "watch items."
  • Train and support junior technicians as assigned.
  • Follow all safety, quality, and regulatory requirements in a high-reliability aerospace environment.

Note: This role is focused on execution and technical support. It does not include product design, software development, or engineering ownership.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2-year technical degree/certificate in Electronics, Avionics, Electro-Mechanical Technology, or similar
OR 2+ years of equivalent hands-on industry experience
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, drawings, and technical procedures
  • Comfortable working with electronic test equipment and physical hardware
  • Ability to lift/move up to 35 pounds
  • Willingness to work overtime or shift schedules as required
  • This role may encounter high risk or hazardous operations and/or include working shifts beyond a standard workweek. As such, a requirement of the role is to be at least 18 years of age by the time of joining.

Desired Skills & Experience
  • 6+ years of hands-on experience as an electronics, avionics, or electro-mechanical technician
  • Experience supporting production, manufacturing, MRO, or repair environments
  • Familiarity with aerospace, defense, or regulated industries (preferred)
  • Comfortable using a PC to access documentation, drawings, and instructions
  • Strong team skills and willingness to mentor less-experienced technicians

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. Therefore, employment will be contingent upon the ability to prove that you meet the status of a U.S. Person as one of the following: U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, have been granted asylee or refugee status (i.e., a protected individual under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).
