Job description

Overview

We are adding to our team at our Sun Prairie Innovation Center! Come join us as a Senior Mechanical Engineer. In this role you will help drive earlystage technology innovation by researching markets, developing new concepts, and rapidly prototyping to assess feasibility and risk. It leads crossfunctional collaboration to move ideas into development, supports intellectual property creation, and identifies new growth opportunities. 

This is a hybrid position, with 3 days a week at our Sun Prairie Innovation Center.


Responsibilities
  • Lead and support development of multiple advanced concepts and new technologies aligned with growth initiatives.
  • Conducts competitive analysis, market research, and voice-of-customer investigations.
  • Develops early-stage concepts, feasibility studies, and product architectures.
  • Builds and tests prototypes using rapid methods to validate performance.
  • Designs robust test plans and performs data analysis to evaluate feasibility and risk.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally to transition concepts into development pipelines.
  • Helps identify new markets, applications, and expansion opportunities.
  • Drives intellectual property development including patents.
  • Acts as technical leader in emerging technologies and innovation methods.
  • Mentors others and presents findings to leadership.

Qualifications
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering required; Master’s preferred.
  • 10+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Strong innovation mindset with proven record of patents or novel concepts.
  • Expertise in prototyping, testing, and data-driven engineering decisions.
