We're looking for a Sr Manager of Web Content Strategy & Optimization to help build the future content ecosystem, governance model, and operating system that supports the next phase of DaVita.com. This leader will own the full lifecycle and organization of our web content - inclusive of content strategy, creation, governance, optimizations, and organizational architecture.
This role will act as the connective tissue between content creation and maintenance, search visibility and optimization, and site performance, ensuring our website is discoverable by both traditional search engines and AI-driven answer engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, etc.), while working across the enterprise to maintain a consistent, high-quality content ecosystem over time that optimizes engagement, navigation and audience journeys.
Success in this role over the next 12-18 months will include creating a more modernized Davita.com experience inclusive of developing a governance process with partners to evaluate, update and retire content, optimizing content site structure and journeys, building a new content creation pipeline to go after priority SEO/GEO opportunities and upleveling the content team as a strategic planning partner.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Content Strategy & Creation
  • Develop and own the site content roadmap aligned to website and search engine outcomes, audience needs, and communications team priorities.
  • Ensure web content structure supports the modernization of Davita.com through integrating content across the web ecosystem, creating more intuitive journeys and increase engagement to deliver on priority site KPIs.
  • Evolve the site content strategy from singular landing pages to behavior-based journeys, optimizing for the next best action and optimizing content for frictionless journeys.
  • Plan, brief, and as needed write or edit web content and translate complex topics into clear, engaging site content for landing pages, blog posts, product/service pages, resource hubs, etc

Content Governance & Process
  • Establish, launch and run a scalable governance model across cross-functional partners to have clear ownership, processes, and accountability -
  • Own intake, decision rights, ownership, standards, refresh cadences, approvals, taxonomy, and operating rhythms.
  • Maintain a site content calendar and manage content production timelines across partners.

Organic Digital Ownership
  • Own organic visibility across SEO, website content, GEO, AIO, and AI visibility.
  • Create and launch the roadmap action plan for content based on reporting and insights to improve KPIs.
  • Partner with Analytics team to build and track SEO/GEO/AI reporting trends, accountable for reporting, performance, and sharing insights and recommendations with leadership.
  • Oversee ownership of search and AI-referral performance tools like SEMrush and emerging GEO analytics platforms
  • Own and develop SEO strategy: keyword research, search intent mapping, internal linking, metadata, and technical on-page best practices
  • Develop and execute GEO strategy to improve visibility and citation in AI-generated answers (structured data, content clarity, source authority signals)
  • Stay current on search algorithm and AI model updates, adjusting strategy proactively

Optimization
  • Establish and run a cycle of regular content audits to update, remove or optimize pages based on search impact, compliance, and journey data performance.
  • Partner across the team to run A/B test and iterate on headlines, structure, and calls-to-action to improve engagement and conversion
  • Use performance data to prioritize what to update, consolidate, or retire

Governance
  • Establish and maintain site content standards: web style playbooks/guides, templates and metadata requirements
  • Build sustainable workflows for content review, approval, and refresh cadences
  • Own information architecture decisions in partnership with UX/dev teams to keep the site organized and scalable
  • Ensure content compliance (marketing, communications, legal, accessibility) across all published pages
  • Manage a content inventory/CMS taxonomy so content stays findable and maintainable as the site grows

Team Leadership
  • Manage and mentor a team of 3 owning content creation and optimization, supporting their professional growth and day-to-day output
  • Uplevel the team from day-to-day execution to strategic product-minded content creators, ensuring new experiences meet our more modern and curated site experience
  • Educate cross functional partners on team expertise and process to improve partnerships and project outcomes
  • Set clear goals, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance reviews
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive team culture grounded in curiosity and continuous improvement

Requirements:
• 5+ years of experience in content strategy, SEO, or digital content management, with at least 2 years in a lead or managerial capacity
• Proven track record improving organic search performance and managing large-scale web content
• Working knowledge of GEO/AI search optimization concepts and how they differ from traditional SEO
• Hands-on experience with SEO tools (Semrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog), analytics platforms (GA4, GSC), and a CMS (WordPress, Contentful, Sitecore, etc.)
• Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to flex tone across audiences
• Experience building and enforcing content governance frameworks at scale
• Comfortable balancing strategic planning with hands-on execution
• Excellent cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management skills
Preference For:
• Experience with technical SEO including structured data/schema markup implementation
• Familiarity with AI content tools and workflows (for drafting, briefing, or QA)
• Background in UX writing or information architecture
