Senior Database Administrator | $89-99/hr | Austin, TX | Remote via Microsoft Teams
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Administrator to join our team supporting full-stack Java applications on the HHSC cloud platform (Azure/AWS) for the SCOR application. You will play a pivotal role in managing and optimizing complex Oracle and Microsoft SQL databases, leading cloud migrations, and ensuring data integrity and high availability in an Agile (Scrum) environment.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Oracle databases to ensure maximum performance and uptime
- Lead migration of on-premises Oracle databases to Oracle DB@Azure Cloud, including decoupling BLOB storage
- Transition batch cron jobs to Oracle Database Jobs for enhanced automation and workflow efficiency
- Identify and resolve database performance bottlenecks, implement monitoring, and manage storage capacity
- Administer Oracle GoldenGate for data replication and synchronization
- Develop and execute backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies to maintain database integrity
- Establish and enforce architectural standards, guidelines, and procedures to ensure a robust database environment
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile setting to support multi-tier application development
Required Skills and Experience
- 10+ years of proven database administration experience
- 8+ years with Oracle and Microsoft SQL platforms
- 8+ years in database design, analysis, and performance tuning
- 8+ years designing enterprise applications/services
- 8+ years creating technical and functional design documentation
- 8+ years Agile/Scrum software development lifecycle experience
- 8+ years supporting multi-tier system/application development (SOA, Microservices, 3-Tier)
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication abilities
Preferred Skills
- 6+ years ETL experience with Azure SQL
- 4+ years managing large volume databases, high availability, and disaster recovery
- Proficiency adapting database structures for Azure cloud
- 3+ years configuring PowerBI environments and developing PowerBI reports
- 3+ years in DevOps, CI/CD pipeline, and deployment tools such as Git
- 2+ years migrating on-prem databases to Cloud (preferably Azure)
