Title:

Sr. Principal Designer, CATS & SPECS Piping

KBR is seeking a CATS & SPECS Piping Designer - E3D Catalogs & Specifications.

The CATS & SPECS Piping Designer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and administering piping catalogs, specifications, and component libraries within AVEVA E3D or comparable 3D design platforms.

This role ensures the accuracy, consistency, and quality of piping data used across industrial projects, supporting engineering, procurement, and design teams throughout project execution.

The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in piping design, catalog and specification management, industry standards compliance, and multidisciplinary project support, with the ability to provide technical leadership, troubleshoot complex issues, and drive continuous improvement in 3D design workflows and data management processes.

Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Develop, maintain, and administer piping catalogs and specifications within the project's 3D design environment.

  • Configure and manage piping component data, specifications, and engineering standards to support project execution.

  • Ensure consistency and quality of catalog and specification data across projects and disciplines.

  • Create and maintain piping class libraries, component attributes, and associated reference data.

  • Coordinate with Piping Engineering, Materials Management, Procurement, and Project Design teams to ensure accurate implementation of project requirements.

  • Support setup, validation, and troubleshooting of piping specifications within E3D or equivalent 3D design systems.

  • Develop and implement best practices for catalog and specification management.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to designers and project personnel regarding catalog and specification development.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to piping data management and 3D design workflows.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience developing and maintaining piping catalogs and specifications for industrial, energy, chemical, refining, LNG, or related projects.

  • Experience with AVEVA E3D Catalogs & Specifications is strongly preferred.

  • Experience with equivalent 3D design platforms such as PDMS, SmartPlant 3D (SP3D), CADWorx, Plant 3D, OpenPlant, or similar systems will be considered.

  • Strong understanding of piping engineering principles, piping materials, component standards, and industry codes.

  • Experience creating, modifying, and maintaining piping classes, specification databases, and component libraries.

  • Working knowledge of ASME, ASTM, MSS, API, and other applicable piping standards.

  • Ability to interpret P&IDs, line lists, equipment data sheets, and engineering specifications.

  • Experience supporting multidisciplinary design teams in a project environment.

  • Strong problem-solving, data management, and quality assurance skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Education & Skills:

  • 10+ years of overall piping design and engineering project experience.

  • Advanced experience with E3D Administration, Catalog Management, and Specification Management.

  • Experience with database management, automation tools, or scripting related to catalog/specification development.

  • Ability to lead corporate standardization initiatives and support multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Field and construction experience
