Job description

Job Title: Data Acquisition Hardware Engineer

Location: Lafayette , IN

Full time

(Test Lab Environment)

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and maintain data acquisition hardware systems used in product testing and validation activities.
  • Build, modify, and troubleshoot electrical wiring harnesses and test equipment kits.
  • Interpret electrical schematics and translate them into functional wiring and hardware assemblies.
  • Perform hands-on electrical work including wiring, soldering, connector installation, and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Utilize electrical tools and instruments such as multimeters, drills, and related lab equipment.
  • Support CAN-based communication systems including CAN J1939, CAN CCP, and serial communication protocols.
  • Assist with hardware setup, integration, and debugging activities in a testing laboratory environment.
  • Collaborate daily with engineers, technicians, and cross-functional team members to support ongoing testing activities.
  • Maintain organized documentation related to hardware builds, configurations, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts for data acquisition and testing systems.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant hands-on engineering or hardware support experience.
  • Internship experience may be considered if combined with:
  • Minimum 2 years in an electrical-focused internship role
  • Plus 3 years of professional industry experience
  • Strong hands-on electrical and hardware troubleshooting experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and create wiring harness assemblies.
  • Experience with:
  • Wiring and soldering
  • Multimeters and electrical tools
  • Hardware assembly and kit builds
  • CAN J1939
  • CAN CCP
  • Serial bus communication systems
  • Strong organizational and task prioritization skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in testing laboratories or validation environments.
  • Experience supporting data acquisition systems for heavy equipment, automotive, mining, transportation, or industrial applications.
  • Familiarity with electrical test equipment and instrumentation.
  • Exposure to embedded systems or electronic control modules (ECMs).
